On Thursday, DSRSG/RC @UlrikaR_UN met with the General undersecretary Ministry Of Health , Dr. Mohamed Ghouj, alongside the @WHOLIBYA representative @DrAhmedZouiten to explore opportunities to deepen UN–Libya cooperation in the health sector and collectively accelerate progress on national health priorities. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to improving the quality and accessibility of health services, ensuring that communities across the country, especially the most vulnerable, can access timely and affordable care.
Discussions focused on practical steps to strengthen primary healthcare, enhance emergency preparedness, and support health system recovery and resilience, with @WHOLIBYA underscoring its continued technical support to national health authorities. The meeting also highlighted the Government’s 100-Day Health Initiative as an important opportunity to advance critical reforms, improve service delivery, and restore public trust in the system.
Both the DSRSG/RC and the Minister emphasized the importance of stronger governance and accountability, alongside closer coordination with @WHOLIBYA , other UN agencies, and local partners. By aligning efforts and leveraging technical expertise, they aim to address longstanding challenges and deliver more reliable and people-centred health services for all in Libya.
