If you have time to binge watch during the lockdown, you could not do better than watch this French historical series (7 seasons!) set in a fictional French town during the World War II German occupation. It is on Amazon prime and Hulu.

@naftalibennett A basic difference between Bibi & Bennett: Bibi ignores his coalition partners’ terrorism because he needs their support; Bennett is no peacenick but knows that any government he heads will include parties to his left & not to the right, and thus cannot ignore settler terrorism.

Naftali Bennett נפתלי בנט
Former Prime Minister and Defense Minister Naftali Bennett on Jewish violence in Judea and Samaria: “We did not establish a Jewish state so that violent gangs would operate within it. I strongly condemn any display of nationalist violence by extremist Jews in Judea and Samaria. More than half a million Israelis live in Judea and Samaria, good, decent people, the backbone of the country. The vast majority reject violence and crime. Precisely as someone who believes in our right to the land and in the communities there, we must denounce the rioters and eradicate all violence from within our own ranks. This is yet another failure of governance by the government. Let the IDF and the police do their job. Soon, we will return to lead Israel.”

An ex-colleague of mine at CIA has interesting suggestions. 🇮🇱 seems already to be using drones to disrupt Basij roadblocks in Tehran. His formula to eliminate Hizballah, however, still rests on direct Hizb-LAF fighting, something the LAF is loathe to do. foreignaffairs.com/iran/how-raise…

The Iran war is overshadowing the Gaza war, but we shouldn’t forget how genocide “experts” accused Israel of committing the world’s most egregious crime. The author explains how genocide went from a legal concept to a blunt instrument of political advocacy newenglishreview.org/articles/genoc…

Is it unthinkable that in wartime a govt. would slash spending on vital services & compensating war victims in favor of more $$ to a parasitical group that’s a drain on the economy and doesn’t serve in the army? No, par for the course in Bibi’s 🇮🇱 ‼️ timesofisrael.com/cynicism-on-st…

Brilliant move by Iran. They are planning to levy a 10% toll on all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This will generate $73 billion a year, completely offsetting US sanctions and paying for war damages. Checkmate.

@KenRoth Ali Larijani was a bridge - to a longer, more capable Iranian resistance. He was more clever than most Iranian apparatchiks - but not more “moderate.” 40 years in a slaughterhouse doesn’t make you moderate- just guilty. He got what he deserved.

Israel's killing of Ali Larijani, Iran’s top security official, removed a bridge-builder between hardliners and moderates who might have led efforts to secure a ceasefire. His death serves Netanyahu’s goal of continuing the war. trib.al/zMOBMqZ

@tparsi Incredible. Parsi accuses🇮🇱of using Iranian civilians as “cannon fodder” against the Iranian regime, even though there’s no pr of any massacres. But there is proof that Tehran treats its own citizens-perhaps 30,000-as cannon fodder to keep the despicable tyranny in power!

Israel urges Iranians to revolt but privately assesses they’ll be ‘slaughtered’ This should not surprise anyone. That the Israelis would use the Iranian people as cannon fodder in their war with the Islamic Republic was crystal clear to anyone who had followed the Israeli-Iranian rivalry in a clear-eyed way. Nor can anyone reasonably expect that Israel would act in the best interest of the Iranian people. Israel pursues its own interests, full stop. Along with the theocracy itself, far more responsibility lies with those who acted with criminal naivete about Israel's intentions and who also knew that Iranians would be slaughtered, yet still - from the safety of their homes in the US - urged their fellow Iranians to take to the streets and dutifully play the role of Israel's cannon fodder. They did so in January, and they are doing so again this week. washingtonpost.com/national-secur…

Finally a Lebanese patriot who is no friend of Israel admits the obvious: If the Lebanese army doesn’t step up to the plate and confront Hizballah, Israel will do it - to the detriment of all parties involved! newlinesmag.com/spotlight/in-l…

I had no idea that things were this bad DEI-wise in the UK. Across the pond one of Trump’s most important achievements has been to combat this disease. Are the Tories so “wet” that a conservative government would hesitate to act as Trump has in the US? city-journal.org/article/britai…

@marvin_plante @LizHurra True, but one of the goals of the current war is to squeeze Iran’s finances to the point where it can no longer afford to,subsidize Hizballah. At the same time, if the LAF actually begins to move against Hizballah the US might up the $$ & training it gives them.

@WinstonColin @LizHurra It’s more complicated than that. Hezbollah will fight to the death as long as the mullahs in iran are still in charge. They get their salaries (2000$/month), equipment, and training from IRGC. Whereas the LAF are under equipped and poorly paid (around 300$/month).

@JohnSimpsonNews Anything that weakens and sows confusion in the regime is legitimate. As of now, Israel & the US are more interested in seeing the regime collapse than in negotiating with it.

@novussubsole @chitowngirl1982 When I worked 🇮🇷at the CIA we saw Larijani as among the regime’s most capable leaders. So many were so jealous of him that the Guardian Council blocked him twice for running for President. That he had an (admittedly brief) comeback during the war shows how desperate the regime is

Larijani's assassination may indeed be an achievement for Israel (likely the only post-Oct 7 assassination of strategic value for Israel): his replacement could be as or more radical but less intelligent. But hoping for regime destabilization at this stage is just delusional.
Yaakov Katz@yaakovkatz

This is a dramatic moment - the killing of Ali Larijani, the regime’s de facto strategic leader, is a major blow to Iran’s command and control and could destabilize the system from within. @Israel_katz now confirming that Larijani was killed last night.

I want these parasites to be made to run from north to south and east to west, like they made Palestinians do in Gaza, lugging their children and whatever they could carry on their backs. Or better yet, leave and go back where they came from. I want them to feel the terror they’ve rained on the entire region for decades. I have nothing but contempt for these morally aberrant creatures.

@hahussain Slight correction: most of the Arab Muslim population fled the heights in 1967. Towns like Quneitra were depopulated. Of course the Druze villagers stayed put and finally, after 60 years, many are accepting Israeli citizenship and even joining the IDF.

What Israeli 1967 playbook? The Golan was not depopulated. Its population is still there; many kept their Syrian passports until recently. The only similar depopulation is Gaza’s current buffer zone: a closed, military no-man’s land ready to be returned if Palestinians disarm Hamas. The same will likely apply to southern Lebanon.
ᴅʀ. ʜ.ᴀ. ʜᴇʟʟʏᴇʀ 🖖🏾 ⚜️@hahellyer

So it begins. Tel Aviv intends to create a Lebanese-free buffer zone constituting more than 10% of Lebanon. This looks like the Israeli playbook in 1967 when it seized the Golan Heights from Syria (never returned it). There will be no peace like this. x.com/mahamyahya/sta…
