Plot twist: No one is required to have an Easter service or recognize Good Friday at all.
Romans 14:1, 5
Ryan Burge 📊@ryanburge
A local non-denominational megachurch held an Easter Service on Friday. They held Easter on Good Friday. That's not how this works. I understand not being liturgical but to basically erase Good Friday is certainly an interesting theologically decision.
English

@DennetRowe @Leophilius “God does not exist in at least one possible world.”
If that’s true, then “God” as you’re using it is not a maximally great being. By all means, I will personally help you demolish that god, because I don’t think any god that isn’t a maximally great being exists.
English

@_ChristIsLord @Leophilius 2/2 Yet God does not exist in at least one possible world, which implies that He exists in no possible world. Thus, the extension of the concept is not only empty, but necessarily empty as well. Any other questions?
English

I am literally conceiving of a world without God right now.
Also, it doesn't make sense to say that something “is existence”. That's just gibberish.
Ontos@gmanm1
Nonexistence per se is impossible. Existence per se is necessary. God is existence per se. You cannot conceive of God not existing.
English

@InvisibleGoril1 @Leophilius A good reason to believe God is a necessary being is because God is defined as a maximally great being. A being that exists necessarily is greater than a being that exists contingently. God doesn’t depend on anything for His existence. If He did, He’s not maximally great.
English

@_ChristIsLord @Leophilius god being a necessary being isn't (by itself) a good reason for believing god exists.
but it's late and i should go to bed, so perhaps none of the above is helpful or interesting.
cheers!

English

@DennetRowe @Leophilius That doesn’t answer my question. Is the God you’re saying doesn’t exist a necessary being or not?
English

@_ChristIsLord @Leophilius Well, the conceivability of its non-existence therefore implies the impossibility of its existence. That is, at any rate, the conclusion if we are modal rationalists.

@NathanBozeman2 @rootcausesleuth If we can all agree that sin deserves a retributive punishment, and the Father made Jesus to be sin for us, then how does Jesus escape a retributive punishment? Where does that go?
5/5
English

@NathanBozeman2 @rootcausesleuth If any other man was pierced, say, for committing a murder, we’d all reasonably conclude he received a retributive punishment. Ditto being “crushed.”

@mog_russEN He was helping her. He did it so that she would not be disqualified for having a phone. Magnus made sure to do this before the game started.

🚨⚡️ A bizarre incident at the German Championship:
Norwegian chess champion Magnus Carlsen, with a wide smile, agreed to take a "selfie" with Kazakhstani player Alua Norman's phone before the second round.
But the surprise? As soon as the photo was done, Carlsen rushed to file a complaint with the arbiter!
The arbiter confiscated the player's phone in accordance with the regulations.. 🤡🇳🇴
English

@NathanBozeman2 @rootcausesleuth But to answer your question “what came from the Father?” I don’t think we can say it was a scolding or “instruction” in this case. It really was punishment for sin: “he was pierced because of our rebellion,
crushed because of our iniquities.”
4/4.
English

@NathanBozeman2 @rootcausesleuth Jesus didn’t have Sheol/Hades in mind when he talked about plundering Satan’s house. He was merely demonstrating that he has the means to overpower Satan and plunder his home, something only God has the power to do.
