Netanyahu at the Cabinet meeting: The United States is threatening to deal forcefully with the Strait of Hormuz issue – I hope they succeed. Iran must be stripped of this switch. After the war, we need to bypass this by building pipelines from Saudi Arabia to the Mediterranean. We are forming alliances with Arab countries that speak about joining forces with us in combat. In the past, I had secret conversations with Arab leaders. I told them – the moment Iran can, they will conquer you and topple your kingdoms. Back then, they didn’t fully understand it — today they do.

Israel’s new death penalty law is widely described as exclusively targeting Palestinians. That’s not just an overstatement it’s wrong. In Israel proper it formally applies to anyone committing a lethal terrorist act aimed at negating Israel’s existence. This includes Israeli Arab citizens on identical terms to Jews. The military court track applies only to West Bank Palestinians, but that reflects existing jurisdictional reality, not ethnic targeting in the text. Settlers, as Israeli citizens, are legally subject to Israeli civil courts even though they are in the West Bank. This is the internationally recognised position for an occupying power’s own civilians. Claims that thousands of already-convicted Palestinians face execution are simply false; the law is prospective only and won’t be applied retrospectively, even to 7/10 terrorists. The legitimate criticism is that the law’s net effect will fall disproportionately on West Bank Palestinians. Moreover, the military track carries a harsher mandatory sentence than the civil one, and it operates against a backdrop of chronically under-prosecuted settler violence. But that last point is an enforcement failure within Israel’s civil court system not a jurisdictional anomaly, or a function of this new law. That said it’s a real and well-documented issue, with many in Israel’s security establishment describing organised settler violence as terrorism. That asymmetry is absolutely worth criticising clearly. But it’s a criticism that’s likely to get lost as the more lurid claims take the attention.

Ukraine is fighting an American enemy while generating battlefield innovations that protect the American warfighter. Ukraine and Israel are the only allies doing both at scale. Too many on the right and left are blind to what these model allies contribute to U.S. security.

Ukraine isn't just surviving - it's rewriting the rules of modern warfare. The grandson of Gen. Patton went to the front lines and came back stunned by what he saw. I really recommend you read this. History in the making. kyivindependent.com/inside-ukraine…

I have boundless disdain for the defeatism of liberal media & pro-Russia demoralization of online right The world ex-US is so many Lilliputians; effective only b/c our massive advantages/ability to crush them are self restrained by a confused secularized Protestantism (1/2)

Back in 2020 I remarked how easily exploitable Progressive narratives are by foreign intelligences to create psyop campaigns. Now the evidence is undeniable. We need domestic antibodies to how the weak-willed and stupid react to such blatant propaganda

💯 There are legit critiques of the war, but the NYT running its 10th front-page story on a missile that may have hit a school in an IRGC compound in February is a form of madness. It’s how you’d cover a war if you wanted readers to lose all perspective and see our enemies as victims.
Gummi@gummibear737

Western civilization may never win another war if this keeps up This is maddening. The radical left, mainstream media, and the woke right are running the exact same playbook with the US/Israel campaign against Iran as they did with Israel in Gaza They create impossible standards in terms of: -Zero Casualties -Zero Economic Disruption -Zero Uncertainty -Zero Time to Accomplish the Mission -Zero Collateral Damage And everything the bad guys do is actually our fault because we made them do it….same script as Gaza…the bad guys have no agency and it’s actually our fault Day 32 of the Iran war: -degraded missile factories, nuclear sites, IRGC bases, and proxy networks -the Supreme Leader is gone…and his replacement is s vegetable -all the top leadership is gone…in fact, we don’t even know who’s in charge Yet the all you hear is endless doomerism And all of this sounds exactly like the demoralization propaganda from Russia, China, and Iran, that has infiltrated our society for years via social media and retarded influencers chasing click This isn’t responsible skepticism It’s weakness… And you’ll never get peace through strength when the opponent knows you lack resolve and they can just wait you out This is madness

Fair point. Though relations were of practical value when they both had an interest in how Assad’s Syria turned out and needed to talk regularly so they didn’t shoot each other by mistake. I still think the US is the prime driver of Bibi’s current stance, esp w/ Russia clearly in Iran’s corner.

I've never understood Bibi's policy regarding Ukraine. He knows that #Russia is working with #Iran. He knows on more than one occasion that Russia did things that raised the risk for Israel. Ukraine can be a great partner of Israel on so many issues. Is Russia considered such a threat in his mind? Odd

Israel is the first state in history to legislate a death sentence that applies only to one ethnic group. There's a reason nobody has ever done this. It's a depth of evil beyond humanity itself.

Channel 14 says it obtained an exchange among Iranian leaders: President Pezeshkian: “I want to be involved in the negotiations with the U.S. Without a quick deal, our entire economy will collapse in 3 weeks.” IRGC chief Vahidi: “That’s exactly why you can’t be involved. You’ll give up everything for a deal.” After the call ended, the report says the Iranian president told his companions he feels like a ‘hostage’, “I’m unable to resign, I cannot make my own decisions, all I can do is read from a script I’m given” Channel 14 concludes its report by saying that the IRGC is effectively running the country now.

Honestly, you can't have it both ways. Condeming human rights NGOs when they take positions you don't like, and quoting them when they take positions you do. As someone who edited @hrw products for 14 years, I wouldn't quote them on anything at all. That's b/c I know the work isn't consistently fact checked; there's no consistent methodology; & that they're still burying fabricated research. Not academia. Not journalism. And not honest. My understanding is that this law gives judges the discretion to seek execution for those convicted of terrorism, and that those executions must occur within 90 days. The goal is to disincentivize taking Israeli hostages for prisoner swaps. @grok am I right?
Abubaker Abed@AbubakerAbedW

The bill has been approved. Israeli prisons will turn into guillotines for Palestinians. Hundreds will be executed in the next few weeks. 9300 hostages now in Israeli custody. Dark day for humanity. Unforgettable memory in the Palestinian cause history.

Israel doesn’t have an unhealthy influence over the US government, but I do understand why you might believe that. The US gets deep security, military and intelligence cooperation, huge defense tech advantages, regional leverage, and economic and innovation benefits. Trump wasn’t tricked into this war; he appreciates that our partner is strong and is trying to leverage that for US gains.
