@realjacobsrival @davereaboi I don't know what the ultimate outcome will be - it seems obvious it's not going according to plan. It also seems **really** likely that at the end of this Iran will retain the ability to close the Straight at will.

@davereaboi If it really is decisive military victory then the US will be able to reopen the Strait. If it’s not, then escalating seems like a big potential risk. Personally, I think getting it open is a finite enough goal that there’s a case to be made for taking the chance.

You need to tell the young ones that now is the time to invest in cheap solar or wind for yourself. Our lovely chinese comrades have come a long ass way so panels are finally really cheap and really good. Battery storage is a pain but alot can be made if you are even slightly technical or bought if you can afford the upsell of not having to solder.

Vote in the midterms. For for primary challengers to Dems who have been feckless in resisting Trump. Call your congressperson and insist they not cave on cutting ICE off from funding. When the admin comes along asking for $200bn for the Iran war insist they vote no. Basically support resistance to the Trump administration.

On one hand, I commend these people for taking action rather than just critiquing the way action is taken (which is what i'm doing). So genuinely, hats off to them for that! However, I find it interesting there have been thousands of No Kings rallies since they started and I have 0 idea of their goals besides loosely defined awareness. I suppose if "awareness" is the motive, the narcissism becomes acceptable. The woman above obviously came in a costume with the intention of getting her photo taken and going viral. Just like the outlandish heckin quirky "ironic" signs people make. Cool, you got to be a meme for 2 days. But what to do with this awareness? Is there legislation they want us to support? @Arrogance_0024 Because Israel is not a nato Ally The strait of Hormuz is not in the North Atlantic USA had steps to follow if they wanted nato to join, and didn’t take those steps. NATO is defensive Also, Iraq was a mistake in some ways.

@Arrogance_0024 Bush spent months making the case, went to the UN, got congress to authorize force, praised Europe as our allies, strongly supported NATO - Trump did none of this and has insulted and put tariffs on Europe from the get go.

@unaliveolives I think I start with the premise that Trump knew it was going to be difficult but decided it was something they had to try. There was no particular expectation. I did not want a war with Iran but if he solves a generational issue, I understand the upside is massive.
