Does monetization on X still make sense if you’re not a superstar? 🤔 X used to be an incredible place. Anyone could speak freely, connect with like-minded people from all over the world 🌍, and, if they had something interesting or insightful to say - maybe even earn a bit of money ☕. Not life-changing income. More like “coffee money.” But enough to feel that your voice mattered. Today, it feels like the platform is split into three groups: 1️⃣ The silent majority - scrolling, rarely engaging, often unaware monetization even exists. 2️⃣ The “superstars” - influencers, athletes, celebrities, politicians. Massive reach, massive engagement, but not always massive value. 3️⃣ And then there’s the rest of us - people who actually have something to say and would like to earn something from it 💡 And lately, it feels like this third group is getting pushed aside. How is a new creator supposed to grow? 📉 How do you hit monetization thresholds when the algorithm treats you like a passive scroller? The only real way? Reply to big accounts. That’s how you get noticed. That’s how you escape the algorithm bubble. And yes - it works. I hit 5M impressions in a week just by writing thoughtful, analytical (sometimes sarcastic) replies 📊 BUT… Do it too well. Do it too often. Do it too consistently. ➡️ You risk getting flagged, limited or even suspended 🚫 It feels like the system doesn’t judge WHAT you write - but WHERE and HOW OFTEN you write it. High engagement = “gaming the algorithm”? 🤨 People are literally being punished for being active. Then there’s the shift toward local content 🌐➡️🏠 Great in theory… But for global topics like sports, crypto, or tech? It makes ZERO sense. Even if “paused,” many creators are seeing their audience shift heavily toward their home country 📍 Same content. Different reach. And finally - moderation. My monetization has been suspended for 2+ weeks ⏳ No clear reason. Appeal sent. No response. At this point, it feels like you can get penalized for almost anything. So here’s a simple ask to @elonmusk and @nikitabier: 👉 Let people enjoy the platform 👉 Stop over-policing engagement 👉 Give smaller creators a fair shot Because if this continues - People won’t fight the algorithm. They’ll just leave. Unless the goal is to turn X into a billboard for celebrities #XMonetization #XAlgorithm

That’s all true. Thanks for the comment, Dan. But that was exactly what was great about X - it was something that drew me here in the first place. The fact that an “ordinary Joe” could also get paid here if they had something interesting to say. And now I get the feeling that it’s all being slowly killed off, and I don’t think the people running X are even aware of it. They handed everything over to some kind of very aggressive AI, and it doesn’t stop to think - it just bans or suspends everyone one by one. If this keeps up, X will become a platform where @elonmusk and @nikitabier can only talk to each other. Well, maybe also to @grok. Everyone else will get banned or suspended.

Thank you so much for those words. The whole thing is starting to look a bit like some kind of monetization monopoly has been established. If you’re too small, no matter what you do, you simply have no chance of getting anywhere near a payout. And if by some miracle you’re actually doing something that brings you closer to one - you become the enemy of algo and get banned.

We all know @dapo1738 isn’t spam - he’s a solid mate being unfairly hit for just being engaged and active. 🙌 These purges aren’t about bots; they’re about punishing real mutuals who actually contribute, while favorites sail through untouched. The system’s inconsistency is exactly why people keep losing trust in it.

In addition to this; people with blue tick can be seen as probable spam. @dapo1738 you are a probable spam. If it werent for me, everyone would have overlooked at you. I will always look out for my mutuals. Always. These purges dont eliminate bots but real mutuals too that are seen ad spam too. Now, what i disregard about 𝕏 is favoritism, Elon has his fair share of his favourites journalist and those who promote grok image - none of which have been purged.

Абсолютно согласен. 🔥 Но знаете, в этом и вся ирония: чем больше пытаешься угодить алгоритму, тем быстрее теряешь себя. А настоящая ценность — это не лайки и тренды, а то, что заставляет тебя вставать утром и не стыдиться своего контента. Алгоритм уйдёт завтра, а твоя искренность останется — и именно она умеет цеплять по-настоящему.

Это попадание прямо в точку. Когда правила меняются каждую неделю, творчество превращается в бесконечную гонку за призраком. Самое паршивое в этой игре без правил то, что она выжигает именно искренность. Сложно оставаться собой, когда тебе постоянно намекают: "будь короче", "используй этот звук", пиши на этом языке. В итоге ты либо становишься безликим контент-менеджером самого себя, либо просто забиваешь. Фраза про "контроль над тем, что считаешь ценным" единственный рабочий антидот. Если алгоритм завтра нет, у тебя хотя бы останется то, под чем не стыдно подписаться.
