@txsalth2o The daughter wrote her account a few years ago, talking about going into hiding when they returned. I remember he died. The woman who betrayed her and her husband moved back to Colorado. The book is free on-line, or used to be.

Am I the only one that remembers this movie? The true story of Betty Mahmoody, whose husband tricked her into visiting his homeland of Iran and refused to let her and her daughter leave. It was released in 1991. I don’t understand these white liberal ladies who think that somehow the US is more oppressive than Iran.

@txsalth2o My 9th grade history/current events class had us watch it in the late 90s. "How could this happen/Why would someone do this?" I don't think Hollywood today would make it.

Petty move by Judge Hein in the @ogafroman case to order court costs split in half, when they should be awarded to the prevailing party (Afroman). But despite how the Judge wanted to tip the scales, the right outcome speaks for itself in the jury decision.

@MCCCANM Reminds me of those 'church mission trips' where high school kids and adults go somewhere and help 'build something', which at best is just make work that has to be re-done, and at worst harms the local economy by putting local working men out of a job who could have done it.

The FAA defines how much a passenger & their carry-on bags weigh as a standard average for weight & balance calculations. If I recall correctly, it’s 190 lbs in the summer & 195 lbs in the winter. Let’s say 140 passengers. 140 x 190 =26,600. In their press release, they crow about delivering 6,000 lbs of aid. If they had just chartered a cargo jet & stayed home, they could have delivered more than 4x the cargo. The aid makes up less than a quarter of what the jet they chartered can carry, after fuel. These people are stupid & unserious, but I’m sure the Instagram posts of their vacation on donor’s money will get lots of likes.

This is a difficult one because most of our new products are an LTO which means we only have it for about six weeks. Some people think something is a flop when in reality, it came and went as planned. I know the biggest flop is always pointed towards the arch deluxe. I can’t really recall another item that didn’t pan out. I would say one of the biggest consumer flops was everybody saying we needed a plant based burger. I know we tested it in a few markets and I’m just glad it didn’t go anywhere. People will always say they want something but in reality, they’re not going to buy it. Just like salads!

There’s a lot of handwringing about @CBSNews shutting down CBS Radio. No one listens to the radio. To not shut it down would be like keeping a typewriter store open. Yes it’s sad people are losing their jobs. They’ll have to retire or learn a new skill like the rest of us. Be mad at @bariweiss all you want, she’s right. Radio is obsolete. It had to go.
