Imagine thinking this is the normal relationship between a sane reasonable adult and their own children/grandchildren.
Jenney Lazzarino@JLazzarino14890

@luinalaska Imagine demanding someone else’s work because of your made-up moral outrage.

It is morally wrong to not pass generational financial security to your own children if you have the means to do so. It is also selfish and stupid.
Kenneth Kirk PC@KennethKirkPC

@luinalaska A lot of the responses to this, conflate "it's good to give to your kids/grandkids" (100% agree) with "You are morally wrong not to give". Those are very different statement, especially coming from those who would wish to receive.

The right wing hippy is a much more logical archetype than the left wing hippy. Nature itself is inherently right wing (i.e. hierarchical). All left wing politics are utopian (i.e. opposed to nature); leftism is defined by the violent imposition of man-made constructions like “equality” onto a wild, unequal, raw reality; the flattening of the Cosmos. The only natural analogue to left-wing values is heat death, the theoretical end of the universe, where all structures (i.e. differences, inequalities, borders) are dissolved into a state of maximal equality (i.e. nothingness), and which all living things resist by the very act of being alive. If you love living things and desire a natural way of being, you have to be right wing

@tiny_tigerlily @BreeSolstad Just ignore them. Most of them are just experiencing a maladaptive reaction to feeling out of control. There is nothing to fear and no reason to involve yourselves.

There is a witches convention coming to town and there’s an internal debate amongst a group at my Church. Half of us want to go the convention to pray outside it with Rosary prayers & hymns. The other half are fearful & say it could put us in spiritual danger. What do you say?

Linda when people mock millennials I don’t take it personally unless it’s something that I also do and then I try to reflect on my blindspots instead of lashing out. Making fun of millennials is usually spot and and also funny. It’s ok to self reflect some. Try that.
Linda Davis@lindas_diner

@luinalaska Ok. Spewing hateful statements as a generalization of a generation and your love for so many older people had me confused.

@JeanMaree_ND We rent a home closer to the kid’s school. We only live here for their educations. It would be unfair to them to make them live remote full time. We want that for us. Not for them. This way the kids can play sports in town.

@JeanMaree_ND We don’t live in our permanent home full time. We built it to house us when our younger kids graduate. It’s much smaller.

There is no “earn” and “deserve” with generational assets. These people are absolutely cooked. The legacy is earned and it will be lasting.
Col Pret@__B_L_A_N_K_2__

@luinalaska What I don't understand is why you people think other people should give up their things just because they're old. Like they didn't earn it and don't deserve it. It's so communist to me.

@luinalaska Their parents were literally starved during the depression. This has got to be epigenetic.

Yes. This is how we fix things. I am a custodian. We owe much to those who came before and we give much to those who come after. Anything shared among family is not loss for me. I am part of a far greater whole.
FeralHouseWife 🥀@FeralClassic

@luinalaska This is why we've adopted basically the opposite mindset. My husband and I consider everything we have to be under our care so it can be saved and grown for our children to use when they're starting their own lives and families. I'm not a beneficiary, I'm a custodian.

ruminations of a black sheep
@luinalaska "I had to work my ass off for what I have and you're not better than me so I'll make you work for anything you get too" is such a resentful position to operate from.

This is such a bizarre mindset in the context of human history. Why would I delay the gratification of giving and sharing as a mom and grandma? What is enjoyable about the hoarding of assets? The entire thought process is foreign to me.
Kenneth Kirk PC@KennethKirkPC

@luinalaska The reason boomers don't want to give up homes, is we were raised on the idea of deferred gratification; if you delay spending in younger years, you can enjoy life later on. So we did, and now young people who don't want to wait, tell us to sell the homes we raised our kids in?

@Amelia558rs Cover yourself up properly for the wedding, darling. Show the “truest version of yourself” to your husband on your honeymoon! It’s called “having class”. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. It’s a very pretty pattern, just too revealing.

Now I'm two months from the wedding, and my entire bridal party is "gently suggesting" I find something more "classic." My mother-in-law offered to buy me a "proper" dress from David's Bridal. But when I put this on, I see my grandmother's garden, her stories about village celebrations, the culture she left behind when she immigrated. Yes, it's not a traditional white gown. Yes, people might whisper. But isn't a wedding dress supposed to make you feel like the truest version of yourself? I'm torn between keeping peace and keeping this dress that makes my heart sing every time I look at those embroidered birds

Everyone didn’t come up with the same generalizations by accidents. It’s based on trends and widely noted behaviors. Sorry everyone else can’t help but notice yall doing shit.
