Schumer was not alone back then. Obama, Biden, and Hillary all took similar stances against illegal immigration during their campaigns for the 2008 Presidential election. The Democrat party has moved so far left on immigration that by 2021, a Democrat President had effectively opened the border and ended deportations. The party just keeps moving further left on immigration. Democrat politicians now regularly incite violence against ICE by calling them nazis and gestapo.
