@Plz_Relax_ To be petit-bourgeois, theyd need to own property. Confusion is understandable, though, given that historically their social position has often been similar to the PB. With monopoly capitalism we tend to see significant social differentiation within the intelligentsia’s ranks.

You all not knowing that lawyers and professors are petit-bourgeois is pretty funny. Mostly because it's clear you view the word "bourgeois" as a moral condemnation rather than just a class description. Lenin was a lawyer and he could still be revolutionary.

@mlminpractice The intelligentsia are not a class, since they aren't characterized by their own specific relationship to the means of production. However, as capitalism develops, their political positions are largely influenced by their social positions (e.g., closer to the proletariat)

This discourse is driving me insane, Lenin and Mao absolutely considered academia & the intelligentsia to be of the petty bourgeois and a bunch of people on here are acting like it’s completely out of left field for an ML to say the same

The industrialization that occurred did so on the basis of a peasant-proletariat alliance, handling the peasantry carefully. The left opp. wanted to do it at such a pace that wasn’t economically possible at that time

Had Trotsky won, his USSR would have been, ironically, far more bureaucratic than Stalin’s, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. The problem with Stalinism is that it was not bureaucratic enough. A powerful bureaucracy means greater stability and less terror.

On 1 June 2026, Burkina Faso's Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, signed a letter stating, "I invite you to adopt the use of the term 'comrade' in administrative correspondence, as well as in public statements and speeches." The move is a symbolic initiative meant to signify Burkina Faso's new direction. The country, currently under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, has begun a process known as the Progressive People's Revolution (RPP). The revolution is focused on fighting imperialism by delinking with France and promoting self-reliance through food sovereignty and industrialisation. Since President Traoré came to power in 2022, factories and refineries have been inaugurated across the country, and tractors, fertilisers, seeds, and advanced farming technologies have been distributed to rural farmers. The country has already exceeded its food sovereignty goals, allowing it to ban rice imports. The people of Burkina Faso have been integrated into the revolution through the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDPs), a civilian turned combattant fighting force, the Citizen's Night Watch (also known as the Wayiyans), who serve as the eyes and ears of the revolution, and Faso Mebo, a infrsastructure development and roadwork brigade that is mobilising youth across the country to build up a brighter future literally. Burkina Faso is not alone in its changes. It is part of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), alongside neighbours Mali and Niger. The Pan-African bloc became a confederation after all three countries expelled the French military forces that had previously occupied their shared region. Now they are working to eventually form a single federal government.
