Could rules of physics apply to social sciences, i.e. flow theory? Is there a hard science explanation for the invisible hand and spontaneous order in human relations? Is social harmony created entirely by implicit human threats of force, or something more "natural" and fundamental?

The LDS believe in many gods and also teach that the Lord Jesus is a separate being from God the Father. So perhaps you could clarify whether you were all worshipping the same Lord.

Although many latter day saints would agree with Trevorโs summary, itโs not actually so cut and dry. We do worship Jesus Christ.
When it comes to the loss of plain and precious truths of the gospel, The Nicene Creed, in my opinion, is the least of our concerns. So many scriptures in the Book of Mormon sound basically trinitarian.
Far more hazardous are ideas like:
- God is without body, parts, or passions. (Westminster)
- God is impassable. (Augustine)
- Man is predestined for heaven or hell. (Westminster)
Those ideas consequentially change how we relate to God and how we worship him. They distort the simple truths we should have learned from Godโs incarnation.

@realDrTT Thereโs plenty of praying to Jesus in the Book of Mormon. Insisting we only pray to the father is kind of autistic IMO. Donโt think God really cares.
Relatedly, Iโd love to hear a Catholicโs reaction to Mosiah chapter 15. Sounds kinda trinitarian. Curious if youโd agree.

Just exploring here. I resist the definition โmind dependentโ for the word subjective. Maybe because I donโt quite believe in objectivity in the same way you might. Common usage of โsubjectiveโ is: preference based. By that standard, my original statement stands. Would you agree that seeing red and liking red are conceptually different? They sort of exist on different levels, seeing red being primary.

I spent a chunk of my early years around Mormons and they were in general exemplary people. Solid families, friendly and open. If I had one complaint it would be aggressive proselytizing - which even happened on the school bus. But that is also a healthy sign of confidence in their way of life.
Exact discussions of their theology strike me as beside the point when they frequently live more โChristian livesโ than men serving as Jesuit priests or leaders of prosperity gospel megachurches - which are basically a Sunday infomercial.

Before Obamacare it was possible to buy health insurance that covered a catastrophic event (like cancer) and just pay out of pocket for a checkup. Obamacare means you have to pay more to subsidize all kinds of things that donโt impact you. And of course it has led to further consolidation in the industry. Itโs a little like how Dodd Frank supposedly reformed the financial industry but really just locked in the dominant positions of the largest banks - the only ones that could afford the compliance costs. Any kind of big federal regulation that aims to โsolveโ a problem usually just entrenches the largest players and makes life worse for normal people.

Mormons proselytize aggressively because, deep down, they know theyโre following a con man and a fake text. Their house of cards could collapse at any moment. Going out and finding gullible new recruits is the only practical way to counter the losses they have when their own people realize theyโve been lied to all their lives, and quit.
You donโt have to follow a con man to lead a decent life.

If they think they donโt have to change because you will vote for them no matter what they do or say because they have an R by their name, then they have no reason to change. So long term, voting for the lesser of 2 evils doesnโt work. It is a short term solution that causes decades of suffering. The party will only change if they have to. So, make them.
