Americans in the quotes be like "that food is disgusting, now let me eat my canned chicken and squeezy cheese in peace"

Largacty3 𓅃@largacty3
The American mind cannot comprehend the pub cheese and onion roll

@ShadowGarrus @ColeSantini @emkenobi Do you have any data to support this assertion?
Public opinion on nuclear energy has been mixed but gradually improving for DECADES. Chernobyl came out in 2019. Show us where public support for nuclear energy suddenly fell off since then.
English

@ColeSantini @emkenobi The show literally contributed to people having major aversion to nuclear energy to the point nuclear power plants are second most opposed thing to be built near suburbs topped only by data centers

@Jun2x1985 @Mr_Derivatives He doesn't have at least one Cybertruck? That's about as stupid as a car can get.
English

@Mr_Derivatives Its a fake number. Cant sell stock. Its amazing Elon lives a simple life. No mansions, no stupid cars. Just making making babies, fighting a culture war and making humanity better. What a legend
English

Tomorrow, Elon will become the world’s first trillionaire. On paper of course.
That number looks like this: $1,000,000,000,000.
Elon is currently 54 years old. Assuming he will be a centenarian, or someone who lives to 100, and assuming his $1T never grows a penny more after tomorrow (ha ya right), he will need to spend $21.74B a year until death to draw the $1T down to $0.
Or $59.56M a day.
Or $2.481M an hr.
Or $41,360 a minute.
Imagine that…
English

@TheSkullTrumpet @rob_heighton Yeah it pissed you off so much when the Doctor said racism is bad.
We get it.
English

@rob_heighton Nope, stuff like that is what made me stop watching
English

@kmsieja @ewarren There was no context. The guy just rambled on some nonsense about he loves the inflation and you know why becuase he knows something you don't which is they're taking millions of barrels of oil that nobody knows about but Iran is finding out right now.
Grandpa off his meds.
English

@ewarren Please continue to take everything out of context in order to mislead Americans. What a brilliant strategy. Did you come up with that on your own or is that out of the Democrat playbook?
English

@andrewdobrow @NewsWire_US He could give every person nine hundred billion and still have ten quintillion left.
Done the math, it all checks out.
English

@NewsWire_US Elon could give every person on Earth $100 billion and still be the richest man alive.
English

@SeanDKnight @DEADLINE Why? Why wouldn't people watch a good show? Why would it be necessary, for the majority of ordinary people who aren't chronic Xwitter bitchers, to erase multiple Doctors and their companions from existence, if it didn't impact the stories in the slightest?
Explain.
English

The Doctor is famed for having powers of regeneration, but the shape-shifting Time Lord’s next transformation could well be the most challenging yet.
That’s the early verdict of UK industry insiders after the BBC dropped a TARDIS bombshell on Wednesday, when the broadcaster announced a major creative rethink of 'Doctor Who.' Gone is a Christmas special, which had been greenlit only eight months previously. And, perhaps more consequentially, showrunner Russell T Davies and producer Bad Wolf have abandoned ship.
Two insiders said it was a mutual parting of the ways after all sides realized that 'Doctor Who' required a level of surgery that could not be masked by the sticking plaster of a festive episode. This creative surgery is expected to take years, potentially keeping the show off TV until 2028 at the earliest, sources said

@SeanDKnight @DEADLINE The 7th Doctor had awful ratings. The 8th Doctor's TV movie bombed and failed to revive the show.
Then they moved on. No retcons, just a new direction and a better show.
Why wouldn't a better show succeed?
English

@robotclay @DEADLINE And my point is if they try to move on like nothing happened, it will quickly fail.
You don’t have to believe it.
But it is what will happen.
English

@math_and_glory @AAAccount7 @CertainSpeaks Different atheists have different answers to the first cause question, and some don't have an answer.
Being an atheist doesn't mean you believe in any particular thing or worldview. It only means an absence of one particular belief.
English

Atheistboi@athiestboi
The burden of proof is on Christians
English

@SeanDKnight @DEADLINE I don't care about your claims.
My point is they shouldn't do ANYTHING about the last few seasons at all. Don't deny, ignore.
Make better stories. Nobody should be upset about a better show.
English

@robotclay @DEADLINE I've got facts and figures to back up my claims.
Just because a minority of fans might have liked the direction the franchise was taken in doesn't mean anything if it led to the cancellation of the show and the alienation of the majority.
English

@qualitycarebear @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski Child? Really?
Condescend some more, please.
I'm not the one who needs magic from an old dude in the sky to explain why anything exists.
English

@robotclay @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski If it is the most fit explanation, yes! It is tentatively true until a better explanation is created. This is how epistemology works.
Lol you think that falsifiability is required when the requirement of falsifiability is not falsifiable. Don’t lecture me about logic, child.
English

@qualitycarebear @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski Oh I see. So the explanation is true until falsified, including things that are not falsifiable.
You do not understand logic at all.
Bye.
English

@robotclay @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski Falsifiability is in fact not required. Is the claim that “an idea must be falsified” itself falsifiable? It is not. By its own logic it fails.
English

@qualitycarebear @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski I think you are missing the point of falsifiability.
The existence of a divine creator cannot be falsified. There is no experimental test for whether God is real or not.
English

@robotclay @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski out ideas and keeping the best ones not yet falsified. So no, not every idea is held but if an idea does not explain all observed phenomena it is less fit and thus less scientific than those that do.
English

@qualitycarebear @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski Feeling the evolutionary drive to explain everything doesn't mean every fantasy we conjure must be true.
English

@robotclay @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski Humans are universal explainers. Computation theory (our current best theory) shows this.
That is the process. See Objective Knowledge by Karl Popper.

English

@SeanDKnight @DEADLINE The fandom is not a monolith. Contrary to your personal beliefs, everyone does not agree with your opinion on what went wrong.
Don't say "this stuff definitely happened" or "this definitely didn't." None of it has to affect the new episodes and you don't have to rewatch it.
English

@robotclay @DEADLINE And you've just lost the fandom by saying that it should be kept canon and pick up where the show left off.
If that is the route the show is taken, it will be dead on revival.
English

@SeanDKnight @DEADLINE Because they can ignore whatever they want.
The point is just to move on. Don't make a big production out of "retconning" things, just move on to something better.
Don't even talk about it, one way or the other. It's still canon but it doesn't matter.
English

@robotclay @DEADLINE If that happens, then the Doctor Who franchise will never recover.
Why would the fans want to support a show that spat on them and the franchise during that time period?
English

@SeanDKnight @DEADLINE No.
Just keep going. No need to "reboot" where 12 left off. The new Doctor is the 16th Doctor.
Just make a better show with better stories and not worry about what has already happened. Just do better.
What happened happened. Move on.
English

@DEADLINE Of all the franchises destroyed by woke activists, Doctor Who is the easiest to fix.
Just restart the show exactly where Peter Capaldi’s doctor ended. The 13th, 14th, and 15th Doctor’s never happened and were hallucinations that transpired during the 12 doctor’s regeneration.
English

@qualitycarebear @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski There is a gap between "everything is explainable in theory" and "humans have the ability to understand everything."
Also, the scientific approach isn't to offer an explanation and assume it is correct until a better one is offered. That is not the process at all.
English

@robotclay @G_S_Bhogal @David_Kicinski If you can’t come up with a more parsimonious explanation than the one on offer then you have lost in the evolutionary process of knowledge.
Nope, everything is explainable. Our goal as scientifically minded people is to create better and better explanations.
