@RealEricTheRed He doesn't win in March and doesn't get guys to the NBA, if Gard did those things it would be a hell of a lot easier to keep guys regardless of money (and would likely increase his budget as well)

My comparison is when you have two kids and one is a moron and one is very smart.
You spend all your time bailing out the moron and leave the smart kid to fend for himself.
Gard actually hurts himself by doing too well with his limited budget.

I think we can also put a lot of blame for situations like Blackwell/Hepburn on McIntosh, who has left the basketball program hanging out to dry in order to put every last cent into redeeming his football choices.

@barryisthedon I mean, he's made a statement that he wants to compete for an NCAA championship and wants to improve his draft stock, I do think those are valid criticisms of Gard.
Also, its not just him getting his money, UW clearly being NIL poor is a problem. I hate that game, yes

If John Blackwell is really getting $4-5 Million next season, there should be ZERO fan anger at either him or Greg Gard
That's silly season money and the Badgers can retain/fill three spots with very high quality players for that kind of cash

@Evan_Flood Im not mad at Blackwell, the problem is that he can't get top dollar at Wisconsin nor become a better NBA prospect there either. Add on the fact that they never win tournament games and you're left trying to pretend that overachieving in the big ten each year means something

It all still applies today with John Blackwell.
You don't get mad at an NBA free agent when they take the next contract. That's all this is.
Wisconsin and Blackwell are on great terms. Both sides have to do what's best for them.

Teams that are bought will never be as special as teams that were built organically. (And yes, I would say that if a Boyd/Rapp/Rohde team made the Final Four). It is a hill I will always die on. Michigan is a great team, but meh...whatever.

Many of the women reading this cannot imagine what a husband and father would do if he were not cleaning the house and cooking meals, because their model of the role assumes the husband is a second wife. They cannot imagine that he has anything else to do.
It is no surprise we have an under-fathering problem when so many people view the role of a father as a male version of a mother.

The best thing I ever did for my marriage was to tell my wife that I would no longer be doing any chores in the house. No cooking, no cleaning, nothing. You can argue that the NFL teams that suck aren't tanking (or tank at a much lower rate) and you're right, but I would counter that it shouldn't really matter for the broad convo. Bad teams are bad teams, who cares why they're bad? There's no honor amongst ineptitude to me.

Winter being on a pitch count mattered today. Team was simply better with him in the floor, especially defensively. Being able to play only 20 minutes was a factor.
