@jemelehill It violates federal law too too. There should be no special hiring or interview quotas for anything in America

So just to be clear: Florida is trying to challenge the NFL on the Rooney Rule when there are 3 Black coaches in the NFL, two Black offensive coordinators, and four Black general managers. This is out of 32 teams. It seems like the system has worked swimmingly well for white guys, so … what’s the issue?
Attorney General James Uthmeier@AGJamesUthmeier

Professional sports are a visible example of a merit-based system, but through the Rooney Rule, the NFL requires its teams to use race-based hiring practices. We are putting Commissioner Roger Goodell on notice: the Rooney Rule violates Florida law, and it must stop.

Christopher Columbus was so infamously cruel that the Spanish crown paid to send someone to Hispaniola in 1500 to investigate. This resulted in a 48-page report detailing the testimony of two dozen witnesses, and the investigator himself, of how Columbus had mismanaged the colony, cut off ears and noses, tortured colonists that questioned his authority, paraded women naked, and sold natives into slavery. He was arrested, tried, and stripped of his titles. Some people that witnessed his barbarism, who had initially supported and participated in his colonization efforts, became so disgusted by Columbus's behavior that they also published accounts of his atrocities and began advocating for the rights of Indigenous populations. In particular, a contemporaneous Pope, and many other lesser Catholic figures, condemned Columbus explicitly, viewing his behaviors as grave offenses against G-d. Matt, you are literally more of a cretin than people that died before 1600 BCE. I wouldn't call you a conservative, I would call you a barbarian.
Matt Walsh@MattWalshBlog

Christopher Columbus is the ultimate IQ test. You immediately know that someone is a retarded halfwit if they start screeching some nonsense about how Columbus was a genocidal maniac or whatever. Intelligent students of history understand that he is one of the great men of western civilization. This is an awesome move by the White House.

@tscot3 @estherzelda0514 @sifferkontot It was absolved of his crimes because the crown had interest in him as a sailor but he was removed from his position as ruler and lost his titles still. He wasn't absolved because he was found innocent

@sifferkontot I mean, Columbus was arrested during the same time as the Inquisition was going on. The people condemning Columbus weren't exactly moral exemplars, but Matt Walsh can't even measure up to them.

Smearing people as ped*philes wasn't always in style. In fact it was just a couple years ago that they were calling it unacceptable, evil, and dangerous. Then Trump got into office again and it's anything goes, no holds barred again.

Here in Hagia Sophia, on May 29th 1453, after 900 years of being a Christian cathedral, in the final hours of the Fall of Constantinople, a large number of Christian men, women, children, nuns, monks, priests, and others sought refuge from the Muslim invaders. The Ottomans surged inside and massacred them. On its holy altars they enacted “perversions with our women, virgins and children” including “the Grand Duke’s daughter who was quite beautiful” and forced to “lie on the great altar of Hagia Sophia with a crucifix under her head and then raped” Those who were not murdered were enslaved. Hagia Sophia resembled a “public brothel” before it was turned into a “stable for their horses”, with toppled altars used as troughs. The Hagia Sophia’s main Crucifix was then paraded “in mocking procession” with “spitting and blasphemies and curses”. “Behold the god of the Christians!” They jeered

A perspective on European antisemitism via example from Kielce, Poland: Prior to WWII, there were ~25,000 Jews, making up 35% of the population. Only ~500 Jews from Kielce survived the Holocaust. ~200 of the survivors returned to their homes after 1945. A year later, a pogrom results in the Poles wiping out 42 Jews, injuring 40 others. The pogrom was based on a lie that was believed because of rampant antisemitic propaganda. An 8-year-old boy named Henryk Błaszczyk wandered away from home for a few days. Upon returning, he wanted to avoid punishment from his parents and falsely claimed he had been kidnapped and hidden in the basement of the local Jewish Committee building (even though the building did not actually have a basement). The boy's lie tapped into an ancient, false antisemitic rumor that Jews kidnapped Christian children. No such thing ever happened. Nonetheless, an angry mob carried out the pogrom. The violence was not stopped by the Polish authorities even though it was 1946; in fact, local police and military personnel actively participated in the massacre alongside civilians. Moral of the story: antisemitic lies have consequences. Oh, and European locals had a lot more to do with the Holocaust than schools let on.

Lol what a joke… Yes, Israel mistakenly attacked one of our ships almost 60 years ago, immediately took responsibility for the attack, apologized, and paid restitutions to all of the families of the affected Service Members in attempts to right the wrong. What more would you have them do? We have accidentally killed many allied troops in our history as well, including Canadian, British, French, and other NATO members in multiple fratricide events, will you hold us to the same standard? This is straight slop propaganda from Shawn and he knows it. It’s insane that he is pushing this nonsense. Act like a warrior and stop being a sniveling propagandist. Embarrassing…
Shawn Ryan@ShawnRyan762

“USS Liberty was an intelligence gathering ship off the coast of Egypt. Israel bombed it and killed Americans, saying it was a mistake and that they thought it was an Egyptian ship. It was flying American flags, and Israeli jets flew over it multiple times to identify it. They strafed it, dropped bombs on it, and the ship called for help saying we’re being attacked. It is the one and only time in history that another country has directly attacked a United States vessel and there was no repercussion.” @MichaelTLester

Bill Maher: Calling Jews "colonizers" in Israel is as ridiculous as calling Native Americans "settlers" in America. It’s not just a lie, it’s a total defiance of history. Our connection to this land didn't start in 1948. It started 3,000 years ago. The Bible is our deed, and the archeology under every inch of Judea and Samaria is our ID card. You cannot "occupy" your own ancestral home. We are the indigenous sons and daughters who finally returned after a long exile. It’s time to stop apologizing for our existence and our heritage. While empires came and went, we remained faithful to this soil. We aren't guests; we are the landlords. 🇮🇱📖

🇮🇷🇺🇸🇬🇧 Iran just proved its missiles can reach far beyond the Middle East Iran fired two intermediate-range ballistic missiles at Diego Garcia, a joint U.S.-UK military base sitting 4,000 kilometers away in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Neither hit the base, but the message landed harder than any warhead could. Tehran has always publicly claimed its missile range tops out at 2,000 km. This strike attempt doubles that number overnight. The Khorramshahr-4 that likely carried out the attack can also deliver cluster warheads, the same munitions that have been devastating Israeli cities for three weeks. Look at the map. A 4,000 km range from Tehran draws a circle that reaches Paris, London, and most of Europe. Every NATO capital that thought this war was a distant Middle Eastern problem just realized Iranian missiles could theoretically reach their doorstep. Source: @sentdefender WSJ

🇮🇷🇺🇸 How Iran hit the "unhittable" jet The F-35 is invisible to radar. It was never invisible to heat. Iran likely used infrared tracking systems that detect engine exhaust instead of radar signatures. Because these systems emit no energy, the F-35's warning systems never alerted the pilot he was being targeted. The suspected weapon: Iran's 358 missile, a hybrid between a loitering drone and a surface-to-air missile that hunts using optical and infrared sensors, bypassing stealth entirely. Stealth dominates radar. Physics doesn't care. Source: AiTelly

And for another view, read the brilliant @marcweitzmann on how the killing of Quentin Deranque may look like a disaster for the extreme left, but in the increasingly polarized political configuration of contemporary France may actually strengthen Mélenchon’s hand: tabletmag.com/sections/news/…

I’m honestly glad to see she’s not dignifying this and making some groveling public statement. We can judge adults by what they say and do in adulthood without digging through things they said as a teenager. This kind of digital cancel culture has to be put behind us.
