JJ REDICK S/B CANDIDATE FOR COACH OF YEAR! What JJ Redick has done with this team despite LeBron, Luka, and Austin missing big chunks of games and the obvious roster flaws the front office was not willing to fix until next summer has been unbelievable. If the Lakers can replicate what they've done in the last 11 games in the 13 remaining games, Redick could be a serious candidate for Coach of the Year. You can go down the Lakers roster from LeBron to Deandre to see how JJ has done a marvelous job of keeping guys accountable and building mutual trust and respect. The chemistry and culture that Redick and his staff have built with leadership of the Big Three is clearly something I have not seen from a Lakers team since 2020. Like every Lakers fan, I began to have serious doubts that the this year's team could finish the season strong. After the Lakers bounced back and routed the Warriors and Kings, I made an over-the-top uber-optimistic prediction that the Lakers would over an 11-game stretch leapfrog from #6 to #3 in the West with tiebreakers over #4, #5, and #6 teams in the West by increasing assists, reducing turnovers, taking and making more threes, and playing harder on defense. As the Lakers commenced to do exactly what I predicted, I was elated with how we were playing and continued to document how the Lakers were suddenly transforming themselves into juggernauts at both ends of the court. Last night's game gave me shivers. It reminded me of the 2020 Lakers team whose domination of Clippers and Nuggets in a regular season weekend convinced us that this team could win a championship. For the first time, I seriously think the Lakers have what it could take to pull-off a miraculous season. The key? It's the Lakers 20-6 'clutch' games record. We've seen it over and over during the last 3 weeks. It's the one statistic that even injuries to Luka, LeBron, and Austin couldn't mask. No other team has the closers the Lakers do. In the end, that's why they're going to have a real shot at winning the championship.

The Lakers Review@TheLakersReview

“What I am watching is JJ Redick doing a spectacular job with this team. From where they were in November to where they are now. I have seen him improve their defense by changing their schemes, by challenging players to do certain things … this is something that is extremely impressive that is going to go beyond this season. So, I think you have to look at it thru that light as well.” - Brian Windhorst on First Take this morning

@deadboylyfee Not worth it. Build a deeper team around Luka/AR. I would use 2026 FRP to draft a center, and then you have 2 FRPs to be opportunistic in the season. Build the team using room exception and cap space.

Ngl is it even worth it for the Lakers to go after Giannis? - 31 years old and has suffered a bunch of lower body injuries this season alone - The fit might not be there between him and Luka offensively - The Lakers will have no assets remaining to build around a Luka/Giannis duo if they pulled off that trade

@TheNBABase @LakersDailyCom Makes no sense. How? There will no depth. Can someone provide a scenario of possibility and Austin Reaves is not involved. Additionally, Giannis would have to play off-ball. I don’t think that would work and he has not perimeter game.

@esidery So can the $500 million that goes to individual teams be used to acquire players and not be considered going over the cap? Because the Lakers would load up.

If the NBA’s two expansion teams in Las Vegas and Seattle fetch a combined $15+ billion in sale value, over $500 million each would be distributed to the other 30 teams. Another salary explosion is on the horizon post-expansion.
