Except it’s not really speculative. Yes it relies on assumptions but the sensitivity is low. Football costs and revenues are largely very predictable. I have the industry expertise to make pretty solid forecasts here. There are a limited number of wild cards that clubs like Villa and Chelsea play. But they’re out of them.

Let me expand on this… Villa won’t surpass £430m in revenue this calendar year. It’s more likely to be £400m (they hit £378m last FY with their big UCL run). They will need £500m+ in revenue and player profits to get an SCR of 70% or lower though. Could be closer to £520m. So they need a minimum of £70-120m 3/yr average player profits in 2026. Their prior 2-yr average is around £60m. So they will need £90-240m in player sale profits in 2026 just to get SCR below 70%. So far, they have ~£10m. They are desperate to sell Rogers for big money because if they don’t, the fine from Uefa could hit over €75m. And even if they eat the fine, they still risk a settlement breach. As I calculated previously, they need more than £70m+ in player sale profits just to avoid a settlement breach that would ban them from Uefa comps for a year. Villa’s profligacy is catching up with them.

Spurs had similar revenues to Newcastle 20 years ago. Spurs built a new stadium complex, school, academy, shops, etc. Newcastle sold their stadium. As a result, Spurs have double newcastle's revenues now and Newcastle feel hamstrung.
