@AtyAdejo @Mochievous Cultural resistance ke. People just don't know much about solar. With what the average Nigerian on Twitter tweets weekly, I can tell the vast majority, both educated and uneducated don't know jack. The 'engineers' they consult aren't any better. You don't even need so much.

@Mochievous Alot of very wealthy Nigerians who can go 80-100% solar, refuse to do so (even while spending more on generators) Those without the funds aren't even in this conversation I think there might be a cultural refusal to solar by many Nigerians

Ironically, the place that finally convinced me of solar wasn’t some fancy expensive set up. It was a town in the mountains in Northern Pakistan surrounded by rural villages where many people relied on solar for their electricity source as hydro sources are frozen during winter

@IamJustNneka When I schooled in Umuahia, fish was a regular thing, I believe it's because Rivers and Akwa Ibom are close. Those two states likely farm fish very well.

Honestly, I used to think it was only women that get pressured to marry. Until yesterday … My aunty actually called a family meeting for her son because he’s over 40 and still not married 😭 I went there as a good cousin, sat quietly in one corner… already calculating the food I will eat after the meeting. Not knowing I came for premium drama 🍿 After opening prayer, they called my cousin to come and explain himself. This man stood up with full confidence and said: “I’m not financially stable yet. I need more time before marriage.” Omor… Na so my aunty scream, fall down, and start rolling 😭 She was shouting: “You that have two cars and your own house?? My enemies have finally caught me!!!” Wahala My cousin now reminded her that he brought one lady years ago and she rejected her. That he’s not even interested in marriage again for now. Omor… the same aunty started begging: “Please bring her back, I will accept her!!!” I just sat there like… wow 😭 Everybody was rushing to carry her, fan her, pour water… Meanwhile me, my own problem was different… No food. After I burning fuel money in this fuel economy, I now came to sit down and watch film for free??? Wahala At the end, the family gave him one year ultimatum: “Bring a wife or we will find one for you.” I just kept quiet and faced my life… Because the way things are going for me ehn… By the time it’s my turn, my own family will not even stress themselves 😭 They will just carry me go market like: “Who wan marry? We get one fine boy here, very calm, no wahala” Aru 💁‍♀️

Channelling Our Women to Critical Areas of Development While the rest of the nations of the world are investing in critical areas of development such as human capital, we lag behind. Instead of ensuring that our women—the vital segment of our population—are educated and meaningfully integrated into leadership and management structures, where they have consistently proven to contribute significantly to development, we fall short. This is evident in countries like the Scandinavian nations and even in developing economies. In Indonesia, for instance, women own over 50% of SMEs, which provide about 98% of jobs. Similarly, in Bangladesh, women make up about 60% of the workforce in the garment industry, the country’s largest export sector, generating about $50 billion—far more than what Nigeria earns annually from crude oil exports. Rather than emulating these nations by investing in our women—who constitute more than 50% of our population—and harnessing their productivity, our focus drifts toward trivialities such as the Ozoro festival, a development that reflects poorly on our national priorities. This is a profound misplacement of values. Greater effort should be directed toward meaningful development, including policies and initiatives that empower women and integrate them into the economic mainstream. If we redirect our priorities, invest in our people, and harness the potential of our women in critical sectors, we can rebuild our nation on a foundation of productivity and inclusion—transforming from a now disgraced country into one of pride. With the right priorities and actions, a new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

@akintollgate Akin, what would you have had PO do in those circumstances? He wasn't going to win PDP's style of primaries. He joined Labour Party, and transformed it into a national party. They used the courts to destabilise LP and hounded him. What exactly could he have done differently?

If a politician walks easily from a party platform that gave him a VP slot & one that later gave him more than 6.5m votes in a general election where he didn’t build, he will walk away from anything else! Carpeting from party to party is not a style of politics I admire! Sad to see young Nigerians are being groomed to become party hoppers, every 4 years. Please don’t come here and blame the APC! All this sudden “I think Peter Obi shouldn’t bother contesting” talk flooding the timeline looks lately looks coordinated. If you see anyone pushing that narrative, don’t argue, just block and keep it moving.

What a woman refers to when she says this is the significant opportunity cost of being with a man at his lowest while she's in her prime. Remember that men and women's primes are not contemporaneous. A woman's prime is in her early twenties. Presumably in that time, she rejected approaches from men of higher status in favor of the lower status guy she loves. A guy's prime on the other hand is his mid 30s. So by the time the guy gains status, she's lost hers. She thus expects the man to pay her in like manner by sticking with her the same way she stuck with him in her prime. This of course doesn't always happen and leads to angst. The simple way out of this is for young women in their prime to date the highest status person they have access to and get him to commit.

@khamacho_7 @Zainab_Folasade These 5 songs you mentioned would literally be in one of p-square's albums. And they have like 4 or more albums. The gap between p-square and dbanj is too wide for any comparison to ensue. There's no basis for the comparison.

I disagree, P Square have hits upon hits songs that's been streamed even till date. How many hit songs does D'banj have? And I rarely see non Nigerians talk about D'banj while P Square has fans all over Africa.
adé.@theadeszn

D’banj will definitely give P Square run for their money if streaming was a thing, 2Baba would be the least most streamed amongst the big 3 of that generation cos he’s more of substance oriented artist. D’banj throws lamba a lot he might out-stream P Square.
