@GuttCutter

Life is hard. Writing a book is harder. I battle the characters every night so you don’t have to. I’ve got the scars to prove it. https://t.co/418WXEjBHA

@jflWrites I was wondering so i asked grok X automatically removes older notifications over time. The timeline is not permanent — it only keeps a limited history (usually the last few weeks to a couple of months, depending on your activity level).

Authors, be honest... What's the weirdest thing you've Googled for a story? 👀 I'll judge you less than your search history will. #WritingCommunity #AmWriting

@Your_In8_Power I had the same thought, I responded to each of them to read my book and we can talk about it. then when they said they did I would ask one little detail about the story, they always get it wrong, I tell them to pound sand and block. Fun times for all

If every #bookmarketer sending me email solicitations ad nauseam, each saying "I recently came across your amazing #book and it moved me so much I know I can make it a #bestseller " actually bought and read the book... that alone would make it a #1 on the #NYT Bestsellers list. That's how many I get. Every. Damn. Day! The names on the emails may be different, but the wording is almost always identical: filled with praise lifted and copied from #published #reviews. It's either a #BOT or these folks all took the same marketing tutorial. I think I'll start saving them and make the collection into a book. LOL #Novels #Books #Author #Authorslife #Reading

My ADHD raging: - start a fourth novel - you run a lit mag, now start a small press - here's an idea for a million quid travel business - do that PhD your dad said you should twenty years ago - buy the domain for the small press already #writingcommunity #amwriting #authorslife

Word of mouth is the only trustworthy signal of quality left. Publishers put out crap Covers suck Influencers are paid Booktok people promote stuff they haven’t even read Plus, unless you have a product with mass appeal (eg romantasy), even an influencer isn’t going to move the needle much. A big influencer audience isn’t a big group of readers. They would have to be hitting an extraordinarily specific audience to be effective, and move people who don’t usually follow them for their book recs from “not looking for a book” to “buying this book NOW” The influencer model simply doesn’t translate well to fiction books But readers trust other readers
Justine Castellon@justcastellon

@DanNEO_SS @GaiusKonstantin Sadly, word-of-mouth is so 20 years ago. We’re now in the era of influence marketing — a time where attention is the currency, and the winners are always those with the strongest recall. Your book’s brand isn’t the publisher. It’s you, the author.
