@lordspookyy_ @_celia_bedelia_ Because it's borderline child abuse to stunt the social development of a teenager. This helicopter parenting seriously challenges the growth of a child

@_celia_bedelia_ why ARE so many people upset with her rules as a parent I’m genuinely curious? I keep seeing the discourse, and it’s crazy to me. If you want to let your kid do that go ahead, who cares if she doesn’t…

It is almost all due to a subset of AI leaders saying "AI will make your job obsolete." That is what is freaking people out. I'm not sure why people are obtuse about this. And to be clear the anti-data center thing is bad.
Jeremy Horpedahl 🥚📉@jmhorp

A typical data center uses about the same amount of water as a golf course, and the same amount of electricity as a steel plant. Yet for some people, they have become The Worst Thing In The World. Where does this motivation come from?

CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupil@CBSEveningNews

Days after voting in favor of a new data center in Indianapolis, Councilman Ron Gibson says his home was struck by 13 gunshots while he and his family were asleep. He says a handwritten note reading “No data centers” was found under the doormat.

@realfemsapien I think two things can be true at once, a new birth can be difficult for the father to deal with both the mother and the baby, a lot of things you aren't prepared for. At the same time, throwing your wife publicly under the bus is a shitty way to deal with it

Anyone overreacting to this benign statement about the difficulty of a man coming to terms with his drastically changed wife should be met with suspicion. He is right. 1) Men are rarely warned about this. 2) It probably is harder for them to confront than the sleep deprivation and newborn. Men wake up less to crying babies anyway. There's nothing wrong with a man finding these changes difficult for himself, and he should be able to problem-solve with other men on the topic or at least discuss it without a bunch of shrieking hens freaking out about it. Did you know the more involved a man is with his babies, the more likely he is to suffer from Postpartum Depression? Did you know men are being diagnosed with PPD more and more? I don't think they're cowards or weak. I think they're genuinely being confronted with an environment they aren't evolutionarily wired for. I also think the hormonal shifts with a newborn are more significant for a man than we think. This isn't to say the woman isn't going through it or that she isn't experiencing massive hormone shifts, but to expect men to "just get it the first time" in this context is silly.

Having a baby isn’t the hard part, having to live with a Postpartum Wife is the real challenge. Nobody warns you about this.

@realfemsapien The part nobody is getting is that females love the drama of it. Worst thing a man can do is get sucked into it as if it's a big deal like it needs to be solved.

While about two-thirds of executives reported using AI, that usage amounted to only about 1.5 hours per week, and 25% of respondents reported not using AI in the workplace at all. Nearly 90% of firms said AI has had no impact on employment or productivity over the last three years, per National Bureau of Economic Research

13 is the perfect age where you go with your child & friends and sit 3-4 rows behind on opposite side of the theater. 15 is the age where you are in theater watching a different movie 16+ they can go alone. Idk why it’s so hard to grasp.
elizabeth@cobavines

@HighHeelEsquire She is THIRTEEN. If she was 16 or 17, yes this would be crazy overbearing. What are they doing at just 13 they don’t want the mom to see? She’s too young to be totally unsupervised. I don’t think this is too much at all. They’re babies.
