Anyone building a political theology of specifically South Carolina has to account for both Jim Clyburne and Lindsey Graham and explain how they're both Calhounites lmfao.

Curiously this is *also* true of Jim Clyburne, the incredibly powerful black Democrat representative from SC and that is *no coincidence at all*.

I lived in SC for 5 years while Lindsey Graham was a US Senator. I wasn’t close to his foreign policy views, but his constituent services were ****next level**** good. There’s a reason he was re-elected, and it’s not because the R base in SC is raving neocons.

The Calhoun archetype (slavocrat/segregationist first) is a very poor fit for Graham. Better to think of him as a descendant of the Pinckney brothers, Carl Vinson, Charlie Wilson, etc

Just reached my desk that Lindsey Graham is in fact dead. And outside of the fact that South Carolina is proving once again that it can do things with dignity that Kentucky can't, I have to point out that whatever you think of him, Graham was a true senator in the long tradition of South Carolina contrarianism and war mongering. He was truly the heir of Calhoun and represented that chair as infuriatingly as anyone ever has.

Now, the grateful dead--- probably a boomer band. They were an SF garage rock band and by 1965 Dylan and the Beatles were already at the pinnacle of the music world. The high age of boomer bands is actually the 70s.
