Been daily driving Fedora for quite a while and it’s been rock solid. Just picked up a ThinkPad that came with Windows. The first thing it’s going to do is help me download another Linux ISO. I’ve been wanting to try a new distro. What distro should I try out?

It's FOSS

Elon Musk is coming for Microsoft GitHub now. Musk's SpaceX acquired Cursor yesterday for $60 billion. Cursor is the most popular AI coding tool that already has more daily active developers than GitHub Copilot. Today, Cursor announced Origin: a direct GitHub competitor for code hosting. Here's what makes this "dangerous for GitHub": Origin is AI-native from day one. GitHub was built for a world where humans write code and tools help them manage it. Origin is being built for a world where AI writes most of the code and humans review it. That's not a feature difference, it's an architectural one. GitHub is retrofitting AI onto 15-year-old infrastructure. Origin doesn't carry that baggage. It's lean from day one. And Musk has done this before. He bought Twitter, rebranded it, and turned the public conversation layer into something he controls. Now he's targeting the layer where (open source) code lives. GitHub has 100 million developers, their repositories, their commit history, their open source projects... an extraordinary concentration of technical talent, intellectual property, and AI training data, all sitting on Microsoft's servers. If Origin gets traction, developers won't just be coding with Elon's AI, they'll be storing their work on his platform, collaborating through his tools, and generating training data for his next model. All in one place. Millions of developers. Their code. Their data. Elon wants all of it. And he is likely to get it.

You are dead. But your ghostly hand still commands. Hellcrown is a roguelite strategy where: • You command armies from beyond the grave • Strange visitors come to your crypt — some bargain, some threaten, all • Every run unfolds into a chain of random stories

How do you feel about Void Linux? I'm looking for something that doesn't have cruft, has easy to understand internals, and is maintainable. I really like Alpine, but Void still has a glibc flavor which can often be a necessary evil, if you're not a huge GNU fan.

Arch Linux is still having supply-chain attacks and other misc. security issues. This is devastating to the over 25 people who use Arch as a daily driver.

‼️🚨 Breaking: Hackers are pushing troll messages to Arch Linux users as the drama continues, and maintainers just pushed a deletion request for the malicious package. We decoded the messages: "you're an idiot using a crap distro, install PIP, don't use AUR for fools; be thankful I didn't add actual malware, only a console reminder," "I use Windows," "happy pride month," "new Albanian virus from Russia,"

Bye bye #KDE, sad as it is, we need to part ways. No way I will be using #Wayland and its degraded experience instead of the mature #X11. I liked you best when you were the Un-#Gnome, but lately you have been drinking too much of whatever they are drinking there.
