@MartinJCooke @andyjlennox Totally agree the public don't realise or care about the damage sales of alcohol in supermarkets has done to the hospitality.

@andyjlennox Tesco Gross profit was £4.5bn, small hospitality businesses are closing everywhere. Increase VAT on off sales alcohol to 25% and make it 0% for licensed premises, would save almost every struggling hospitality business and make a tiny dent in the supermarkets profits.

People say to me a #VATCUT is not possible. I say, there is 4 million votes + extended ability to sway millions more. Hospitality needs to believe in itself. #hospitality

@MarkgLcfc Looking back on it, the scheme was awful for the industry. The government don't know how to handle the #hospitality industry and the majority of the public don't understand the costs involved and expect a business to pass on any tax deductions.

@GaryUsher_ Turn the table ask the guest what business they work in, and say would they think it's OK for a customer to bring a product or service into their business, to use their premises but not pay a penny to them the pleasure.

Yesterday I visited the sites of the horrendous October 7 massacres by Hamas in which 1400 innocent Israeli civilians were murdered in cold blood - many of them raped, tortured or burned alive. I saw @Isaac_Herzog to express my condolences and met British-Israeli reservists and those providing support in local community centres. I believe Israel has no choice but to hunt down the perpetrators and to make sure nothing of the kind can happen again.
