@SimonPB and that's just for individuals. the impact for businesses is even greater. it's why so many businesses have to register entities outside of SA just to do business easily with international customers.

@SimonPB Have to disagree it has no impact. So many financial services don’t support SA users due to all the additional compliance requirements. It’s why sending and receiving forex is still expensive. Also over R1million has additional “paper work”, delays and potential costs to apply.

Not wrong about FX controls being stupid .. but also very true is that they impact literally nobody .. SARS/SARB limits are plenty at R11m/year and even above that they allow as SARS taxes on world wide income

Now that we're off the grey list, it should be easier for SAns to join offshore share platforms. Just a pity about forex controls. Why do we still have this draconian system in place when a peer country like Brazil doesn't?

@WOOLWORTHS_SA @AbsaSouthAfrica @AbsaSouthAfrica so Woolies says you're been running maintenance on Apple Wallet and Google Wallet for over a month and so cards cannot be registered, and there's no ETA on when it will be fixed. How can it be offline for so long?

@StevenInCPT Ah, that’s not a fee (which is something most banks charge). This is us being totally transparent about the mark-up we charge on the exchange rate. All banks charge a mark-up but most don’t mention what it is.

my word the Bank Zero support is terrible. they have no clue what they're doing. guess this isn't going to work and will have to move to Capitec instead. sigh.

starting to think the "Zero" in Bank Zero really just means nothing works. clunky interface and signup process, and pretty much impossible to use the card internationally since it gets declined on every transaction. support doesn't have a clue how to fix.
