BRS repeatedly claims that only KCR brought Telangana. The facts tell a different story.
While Professor Kodandaram was already mobilizing people for a separate Telangana, KCR remained loyal to the anti-Telangana TDP and lobbied aggressively for a cabinet position.
KCR embraced the Telangana movement only after Chandrababu Naidu denied him that post to accommodate former CBI Director Vijaya Ramarao, a leader from KCR’s own community.
In essence, Telangana was a people’s struggle, and KCR merely boarded the movement after failing to secure a ministerial position.

BJP in Kakinada (1999) supported Telangana and then backed off for CBN’s support to NDA. KCR made the same CBN say Jai Telangana. Supporting Telangana and its formation became a political compulsion because of KCR.
