NEW: Toledo police release bodycam showing what led to controversial arrest of 15-year-old girl walking in street
Toledo Police have released bodycam footage from April 10, 2026, showing officers stopping a group of teens for jaywalking in the street near Lagrange and Austin.
The 15-year-old girl at the center of the encounter did not provide her name or birthdate when asked.
When she spit on an officer, he grabbed her and pushed her to the ground multiple times while handcuffing her.
The girl was charged with resisting, obstruction, and harassment with a bodily substance.
She denied the charges in court on April 13.
The involved officer has been reassigned.
Toledo Police stated that videos circulating online may show only part of the incident and emphasized their commitment to transparency and accountability.
The mayor noted a similar jaywalking stop recovered an automatic weapon, which likely influenced the officers' intent during this encounter.

This young woman was off on a run, she’s taking the route she normally does for a long time now. On the way see runs with her little brother and even sees her sister out running as well.
As the sun sets she’s on her final stretch of her run and she’s approaching where she started out again. She sees two men on the sidewalk and right as she is about to run past them they try to grab her and take her, one of the men lunge at her as to almost tackle her and stop her in her tracks.
Even after running for miles she musters up the strength in her to run away as fast as she can. It’s safe to say this is why people use treadmills but if this was you would this discourage you from running outside again, what would you do?
