We trained a robot dog to balance and walk on top of a yoga ball purely in simulation, and then transfer zero-shot to the real world. No fine-tuning. Just works. I’m excited to announce DrEureka, an LLM agent that writes code to train robot skills in simulation, and writes more code to bridge the difficult simulation-reality gap. It fully automates the pipeline from new skill learning to real-world deployment. The Yoga ball task is particularly hard because it is not possible to accurately simulate the bouncy ball surface. Yet DrEureka has no trouble searching over a vast space of sim-to-real configurations, and enables the dog to steer the ball on various terrains, even walking sideways! Traditionally, the sim-to-real transfer is achieved by domain randomization, a tedious process that requires expert human roboticists to stare at every parameter and adjust by hand. Frontier LLMs like GPT-4 have tons of built-in physical intuition for friction, damping, stiffness, gravity, etc. We are (mildly) surprised to find that DrEureka can tune these parameters competently and explain its reasoning well. DrEureka builds on our prior work Eureka, the algorithm that teaches a 5-finger robot hand to do pen spinning. It takes one step further on our quest to automate the entire robot learning pipeline by an AI agent system. One model that outputs strings will supervise another model that outputs torque control. @someRandomDev5 I mean, every dev knows the cost of an api call.

I pay $99/mo for a simple API, one month I accidentally used my live key instead of test, triggered a load of identical calls and went over my usage limit. They charged me $600 in overages, even though every request was identical, assuming they have caching, the cost to them should essentially be zero. I politely asked if they could reduce the fees as it wasn’t real usage and they refused. As a result, I’m now building my own in-house solution. I was using them for 2 years, and had intended to use them for another 5 at least. (~$9k in potential revenue for them) Don’t treat longterm users this way.

i finally figured out how to do a steam controller layout with both triggers (LT + RT) for a 3rd action set. working in any direction. LT (1) -> LT + RT(3) -> RT (2) now i can play GW2 with a controller

@BeardScript yea true there's a lot of ethical and copyright issues to consider, but at least you can leverage your marketplace for published components, and assets too hopefully, in a fair use way, perhaps with opt-in nice! that sounds exciting and challenging to mesh together

@jtrdev I'm not getting into asset generation yet until I'm 100% sure it's a fair deal to artists. Definitely going somewhat in that direction with components. Still learning and trying to nail the UX.
