China's independent refiners just hit a 9-year low in operating rates. Lower than during COVID. Iran just got its sanctions waiver back. Everyone assumes the oil flows resume. But the "teapot" refiners - Iran's biggest buyers - aren't short of crude. They're short of demand - domestic fuel consumption is falling as EVs take over. Iran has permission to sell oil again. It just doesn't have buyers who need it.

@degenrsc US dollar stablecoins are essentially CBDCs in everything but name. So I think the ECB is worried about their dominance. But instead of trying to encourage local EUR stablecoin companies, they try to force some garbage Central bank equivalent.

@puckrin yeah. I think It’s a matter of need. As long as US controls the money flow, it doesn’t matter whether they release the CBDC. Also the debt they hold is next level. They have to communalize it and CBDC is anti-thesis to that.

At the same time that the US is passing legislation banning CBDCs, the EU is going full steam ahead with the digital Euro. What a stark contrast.

Strategy is in a difficult spot. STRC is trading considerably below par at $87. One of the ways to increase price to par is to increase dividends. But right now, annual dividend costs are at their highest ever. Current cash levels can only cover c. 8 months of dividends.

TRUMP: ARRESTS MADE OVER REFLECTING POOL DAMAGE President Trump said six people have been arrested and seven cited in connection with vandalism at the Reflecting Pool. According to Trump, the damage included a 350-foot series of cuts and destruction to surrounding landscaping. Permanent repairs are expected around the Fourth of July, with the pool remaining open in the meantime.

The Dollar surge continues! DXY has now fully broken out of the previous 13 month range and is on track to reach levels not seen since liberation day last year. This is weighing on risk assets like stocks & crypto. Hold on!

Wow. South Korean stocks have absolutely collapsed today. The KOSPI is down 10% in a single session! Unsurprisingly, the biggest losers were those that ran the hottest - memory companies. US Futures are already pointing much lower. It's going to be a crazy day.

It's actually incredible that the US is temporarily lifting sanctions on Iranian oil. For 40 years, they were restricted from selling their oil into the international market. But now, they are fully allowed to sell that oil on the open market and earn in dollars. Heck, it even allows US refiners to import Iranian oil and pay in USD!

This explains why Trump was desperate to open Hormuz. It also explains the temporary lifting of Iranian oil sanctions. The US Petroleum reserve has been consistently drained & ended last week down at 331.2m barrels - the lowest since 1983!

@d_lennertz @swamy95000 That eliminated army has been quite effective at closing Hormuz and those dead leaders have been equally as effective at negotiating an incredibly favourable deal.

Oil is flooding out of Hormuz. Tanker data says crude flows are running at the fastest pace since the war began. 20m barrels moved through in 3 days. Additionally, the US has issued waivers on the sale of Iranian crude. The chokepoint risk premium is collapsing.

@puckrin Boris broke Brexit. To punish the British citizenry he opened the borders and leaned into Ukraine crazy. UK is occupied by a parasitical political class that has been draining its resources for decades.

10 years on from Brexit, a majority of Brits would now vote to REJOIN the EU. How badly do things have to be going to consider this?
