@CoreyWriting Without better education for these young men to be busy with jobs, this will continue.

@CoreyWriting True but I bet these “teens” know this. They probably view this development as “gentrification” or “invasion” or “an attempt to push the black community out of DC”. To be fair to them, it would be. Not intentionally as such, but as a consequence if it succeeds.

@CoreyWriting Same old problem of shrinking 3rd spaces for 13-18 set and the conflict between trying to get kids to go for something lightly supervised vs having nothing constructive to do at all because us adults are wired to find teenagers obnoxious and they are wired to be obnoxious

@CoreyWriting public officials in the democrat party needs to address the real problems in the black community instead of always blaming racism.. otherwise, these teens will continue to wreak havoc and terrorize society

@CoreyWriting In the 80s white kids used to do shit like this after heavy metal concerts all the time. The most infamous were Judas Priest shows. That song "Breaking the Law" got everybody riled up real nice. And yet civilization didn't end.

@CoreyWriting Exactly. But I’ve already seen a post claiming that this is actually a fight against ‘capitalism’. Even if removing these gatherings would directly benefit their local areas. Makes zero sense.

@CoreyWriting I remember Navy Yard, Waterfront, SE in general pre-Nats park. There's been millions of dollars spent to gentrify the space, bringing in huge & much-needed tax base. Mayor Bowser needs to come up with a plan. I'd go rubber bullets & RC agent.

@CoreyWriting @Zmicer25 The spirit of lawlessness is clearly abroad in the city. The troublemaking community got the memo from City Hall.

@CoreyWriting The same people who think teens should be allowed to do this are complaining about the lack of "third spaces."

@CoreyWriting Lived here 3 years and have already seen places starting to close. Chicken & whiskey, lululemon, all purpose, bww, etc. Places that border the park where the juvenile weekend fight clubs have gotta take a hit on the weekends due to the chaos.

@CoreyWriting Or you could have a media outlet telling you one of the best neighborhoods in the country is Atlantic Station in Atlanta. Atlanta residents cannot get out there fast enough, but, yeah.

@CoreyWriting OK. Ask yourself this. Where did these kids come from? Are they from the area? And if not , who paid them to be there? These need to be answered

@CoreyWriting Simple solution: dress code the whole area. Shirt/tie for gents, ankle length dress for women. No ball caps, no sneakers, no midriff or shoulders.

@CoreyWriting Because the DC government refuses to address the felon-in-law segment of the black american community and the fact that a lot of parents do not care unless they spend a weekend in prison.

@CoreyWriting New law, if your kids get arrested you get kicked off ebt. That'll get the parents invested in reigning in their kids.

@CoreyWriting So where do they get to go then? If the infrastructure that was built is off limits to them, where can they go? I am all about economic development. It can be a great thing. But not if the people in or around the neighborhood it was built in can’t use it.

@CoreyWriting There’s a growing issue with youth. More are committing serious violent crimes at younger ages. Economic policies have incentivized single-parent structures & dependence on the state, reducing supervision. Policies should support stable families & greater parental accountability.
