China will be the biggest loser if the current conflict in Iran persists.
When Iran alone threatened to restrict the Strait of Hormuz, Chinese tankers might still have found ways through. But if the U.S. also enforces a blockade, Chinese access is effectively cut off. That would drive global oil prices higher and deprive China of discounted Iranian crude, which China's manufacturing sector desperately depends on, whereas the US is energy independent and a net oil exporter.
Beneath all the rhetoric, China’s real preference is clear: it wants the U.S. and Iran to reach a deal and end the conflict as quickly as possible.

President Trump is clearly furious. He is threatening an even bigger blockade in response to Iran’s. If he follows through, oil prices will surge and stock markets will crash. This would be catastrophic for the global economy—and that catastrophe would quickly translate into massive political pressure on President Trump. Trump posted this on Sunday morning, when oil and stock markets were closed—a perfect time for the president to vent his anger. We’ll see what he says Monday morning, and whether anyone else in the U.S. steps in to calm the markets.

Hungarian friend of mine is watching and translating Peter Magyar's victory speech. Magyar has already "confirmed they'll be letting in infinite illegals...to get that sweet sweet EU money." He's also called on the Hungarian president to resign. I predicted that if TISZA won, they would execute a Biden-like vengeance on Victor Orban and Fidesz, akin to how Donald Tusk's government began arresting PiS members following his victory in Poland three years ago. My friend reports: "But yeah right now he's basically saying what you said...almost expanding the punishment from FIDESZ to the people [who] VOTED for FIDESZ..." My friend describes Magyar as "Hungary's Obama." It's not looking good, frens.
