@2e0rtb

Can't walk properly, tired a lot, occasionally amusing. Ask me for clarification if I'm unclear.

@AngieBeatDown Baby food pouches! If you're always eating at home and have someone cooking for you, great, but if you want to go out there's surprisingly few truly soft meals or snack options available. Vanilla pudding is nice but sometimes you want something savoury - baby food! Good luck 🙂

I have no idea whose cat this is, nobody around me seems to know. He is friendly but very thin. The last month he has been waiting at my front door or under a nearby bush/car and follows me when I get home. I’ve taken to feeding him as his bones/ rib cage are showing. Today when I got home after food shopping he ran up to me meowing loudly so I let him in as the weather was pants. After some food, he decided to lie down on my bed. Think I may have been adopted?!

@AskBritain_ @grieve51166 So someone who came here in the 70s (arriving as a qualified teacher and costing taxpayers nothing for their education or upbringing), worked their whole life, paid their share of tax and NI contributions now won't be able to claim their pension? Fuck off.

@PeteUK7 I'm so sorry for your loss. Doubtless this will be recorded by the DWP as "fraud", and used to justify further crackdowns on people "abusing" the benefits system 🙄 The DWP penalised me for not telling them about a letter the DWP sent me which hadn't arrived yet - more "fraud" 🤦‍♂️

Mum died on Monday. Today she received a £50 civil penalty for not letting DWP know soon enough she was in hospital & had been overpaid £73.90 in allowances. The traumatic experience of hospitalisation & loss of mental capacity was deemed 'not a reasonable excuse'. F this world.

@_baklon @RokoMijic @bswud See my other post about social care - council budgets have been slashed due to austerity, meaning lonely old people don't get the social contact they need because their clubs/sunshine bus trips/community outreach programmes have been curtailed or cancelled. Fixing that fixes GPs

- 9yo boy referred to A&E by GP with suspected appendicitis - Never seen by a doctor. The hospital says it ‘couldn’t identify who saw the patient’ - Discharged - Getting worse, his father calls 111 (non-emergency line) - No answer for 2h, is triaged to get a call back from a clinician - Gets even worse. Parents take him back to A&E. - Diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and dies of septic shock. leighday.co.uk/news/press-rel…

@RokoMijic @bswud That sounds like social care needs better funding - if old people are so isolated their only human contact is their GP, something is broken in society. Probably council budgets have been cut to the bone by austerity, meaning sunshine clubs and community outreach has been slashed.

> Nobody is going to their doctor or A&E for fun. Yeah people do. Especially old people! The NHS is one of the few things you can do completely for free where someone is legally obligated to talk to you. Vast quantities of medical professional time is consumed dealing with old people who are not there to be healed but to have someone to talk to. Plus there's healthcare tourism from the third world, free healthcare for illegal immigrants, etc. The demand for something that is free is always infinite.

@_baklon @RokoMijic @bswud Right, and if their regular GP was properly funded and actually had appointments available, they could go there instead of clogging up hospitals

@2e0rtb @RokoMijic @bswud Yes people literally go to A&E for stuff that doesn’t require A&E because it is easier than trying to see GP.

@RokoMijic @bswud You do understand that the NHS is healthcare, right? Nobody is going to their doctor or A&E for fun. If you're fit and healthy, what could you possibly consume? Are you suggesting people would get prescriptions for bandages to go to costume parties as "the mummy"? Don't be silly.

@2e0rtb @bswud > use the money to fund the NHS such that rationing is unnecessary No amount of money short of infinity is enough to fund the NHS such that rationing is unnecessary It's basic economics. If you give something out for free, people will consume arbitrarily large amounts of it.

@RokoMijic @bswud Or, close tax loopholes that companies like Starbucks use to pretend they're operating almost at a loss, and billionaires to claim that they're penniless, and use the money to fund the NHS such that rationing is unnecessary because there's enough to go round for everyone.

If you don't ration something by price, you'll end up rationing it with something else. In this case it seems the rationing factor is something like "having to be pushy and persistent" which English people hate, and "time spent waiting" which is a deadweight loss. Socialized healthcare is a mistake.

After posting a photo of me, I ended up getting some pretty horrible comments about my appearance, and I’ve been too scared to post a photo on here since… But I’ve decided I’m not gonna let nasty people dictate what I post - so here I am, unashamed of what I look like 😊

I hated my replacement wheelchair at first. But then I realised the metal rims stick out further than my old one and are great for scratching the paint off of any cars and vans parked across a pavement I'm using. Had it a month and racked up 3 cars and 4 works vans. 4.5 stars.

I'm fed up of my MH support workers... big time! The ward are deliberately sending bank/ agency workers who i have never met before. Some days i have all male staff in a confined room whilst my bowels are incontinent. They don't introduce themselves and sit staring at me for 3 hours. It is so uncomfortable. The other day i had a lady stand up and use my charger, listen to videos outloud whilst sending voice notes in another language. I've had staff open my windows in the middle of the night, waking me up from the cold. Staff talking to each other loudly at the early hours during their swap overs. I know I'm venting into a void right now, but at at the end of my patience 😤

@SarahWW @TinyWriterLaura Yeah, no. I have a scooter, but am considering a power chair. I can walk, and stand, but not very far or for very long. I certainly don't have the energy to push myself about with my arms. Scooter is lighter, but a chair is allowed in more places and access is protected by law.

reasons for using a wheelchair that aren’t paralysis: circulatory (fainting on standing) fatigue (can only walk a short distance) breathing (can’t maintain oxygen levels upright) pain (can’t stand for very long without issues) joint dislocation (connective tissue weakness)

Well after 3 weeks of not emptying my bowels, they are no longer making a sound. I can't keep fluids or food down. So, I'm about to have an NG tube fitted for drainage and am nil by mouth. Slightly scary times, so please do send your love 💓

I'm no longer allowed to shower or bath without two females in arms length. I haven't washed since Christmas eve. I'm not sure how much longer i can cope with these restrictions. I've been on 2:1 for 6 months. The rules are only getting tighter

@BenThom32245719 @ISimpson73 Saves livestock from what, exactly? Remember, they claim they're following a trail, and NOT actually hunting foxes, which is illegal, and has been for 20 years. Any encounter they have with livestock is likely to be detrimental, no farmer wants baying hounds bothering his animals

Just your average stranger hired by the hunt, telling someone to go back indoors as they can't walk on the public footpath while the trail hunt is going through the village.

@domdyer70 You don't even know half of it with this particular hunt, if they come through your village you can't even leave your front door unless you're a member of the hunt. They employ thugs to keep the public well away, even from public land. Local Police chiefs refuse to do anything!!!

@BenThom32245719 @ISimpson73 If it's not safe, they shouldn't be doing it in public - fuck off and ride on private land if it's that dangerous. They're supposed to be following a trail, so there's no legitimate reason that trail can't be wholly on private land. If they're in the street, they're chasing foxes

@ISimpson73 You mean they have members of the hunt asking the public not to stand on the side of the very narrow streets whilst large horses are on the street to ensure people’s safety! Calm down! You don’t like the hunt we get it but understand it’s not all about you!
