@2e0rtb

Can't walk properly, tired a lot, occasionally amusing. Ask me for clarification if I'm unclear.

@SophieP25397 If I was Vladimir Putin and I was about to lose a valuable asset in a by-election against a bin, I might instruct my security services to take a break from admiring Salisbury cathedral, and do something to drum up sympathy for Reform Ltd. and legitimise 'security' payments 🤔

Nobody has said she was murdered for political reasons yet. Though you want her to be. The type of self styled libertarian who applauds Tice when he opposes #Autistic kids wearing ear defenders.
Harvey Simmons@UKHarvey

@SophieP25397 That’s because you are an idiot! Farage security funding was cut which puts him at risk because he is a high profile MP. The same as Ann.

@OrMakeOne The brake wire and throttle wire - see below for how the motor on my scooter works. If you have a multimeter, measure what voltages are on the command wires during operation, and if they're below 5v you can use a cheap (£10ish) logic analyzer to see if there's serial data

I have one of these basic modern folding powerchairs, but only use it in emergencies. Problem is the long delay before the brakes engage mean I can't make it stop on a slope. I stop it, release joystick, it rolls several feet. Does anyone know if this delay can be adjusted?

@OrMakeOne That sounds exactly like how integrated ebike motor controllers work - my scooter is the same, the (manual bicycle style) brakes have a switch which cuts motor power when closed, and the motor just reads 0-4v from the throttle. Do you have an oscilloscope and/or a logic analyzer?

@2e0rtb As not only do instructions from the joystick reach the motor units, the joystick module knows when the motor units are in or out of drive. Also everything points to the actual speed control happening in the motor unit, but the joystick module has lots of slots and metal fins 🤪

@NHSMillion As a reply to those who say that hospital parking will be filled with commuters; convert it to run like prescriptions. Those who can't afford it, and staff, are free, those who can but have to visit regularly can buy prescription plans, and those there occasionally pay a flat fee

@OrMakeOne Fair enough, that sounds frustrating. Odd question - if you move off very slowly, and then let go, do the brakes come on quicker than if you stop from speed, or is it always 2 seconds or something? Wondering how they implemented the delay, and how it might be reduced.

@2e0rtb The problem is that there is still a delay before the brakes engage, so if there is any gradient present, it starts rolling again, and can move multiple feet before the brakes finally engage and stop it.

@OrMakeOne That is, what's inside the joystick? It might be completely analogue! Does briefly slamming it into reverse bring it to a halt? It sounds like the "coast/neutral" zone is too big

@OrMakeOne Ah fair enough, my little scooter works like that - the motor (with integrated controller) provides a regulated 5 volts out, and you just connect a potentiometer across it to a line back in, and it does all its own speed control automatically. Do you have a photo of the circuit?

@timboxall @quiet_homeboy Ooof, that's gotta smart 😬 That's one reason I'm thinking of having a key safe/lock box fitted, so at least I can give someone a code to let themselves in. My mum has keys, but if she's not around they'd have to put the door in.

Had a seizure last year leading to me falling in the shower l, breaking my collarbone & dislocating my shoulder. Worst thing was obviously having to get Alexa to call 999 when I was stark naked on the floor. Compounding it was the paramedics couldn't get in so had to call the fire brigade to break the door down.

The thing about having a medical emergency is you can’t shower or change before the paramedics haul you off and someone is gonna have to go through your shit to bring you things. So I’ve started thinking about hygiene and chores as am I medical emergency ready or nah

@TheMeldrew Not to be dismissive, but are we actually sure this was deliberate not accidental? Birds get themselves tangled in things all the time, this looks like a bunch of discarded fishing line, not a purpose made noose. The poster calls for witnesses, implying they didn't see it happen?

@NewsWire_US Was the dog also in Nebraska? Because it's not clear from the wording, and if they weren't, that's a much more interesting story, or some implausible ballistics...

@fesshole For all the naysayers who say you can't just borrow a lathe, it says popped round, not "drove my car round" - it's entirely possible and in fact quite likely that they popped round in their forklift, JCB Telehandler, or mobile crane. Who looks foolish for making assumptions now?

Popped over to my cousin's house to borrow a lathe. She apologised for not offering me a cup of tea as she was doing a deep clean on the kettle. I'm 37 and it never occurred to me to wash my kettle, let alone do a weekly deep clean. I must be a natural born slob.

@twentysixbux @CockertonMark @TravelodgeUK If the room has been paid for, why does that matter? It's yours for the whole night, if you choose to occupy it or not. They want to sell it to someone else, and keep both payments, which is just bullshit. They have your details on file (or it's paid up front) so it's yours.

@CockertonMark @TravelodgeUK This is a thing with a lot of hotels, you need to tell them you’re not going to be arriving until x time, if it’s late. Otherwise they’ll think you’re not coming.

Don’t book at @TravelodgeUK if you are wanting the room you’ve paid for to be available after 10pm at night!! We’ve had a dreadful experience. We tried to check in at the Ilford hotel & 11 30pm to be told they’d been sold to others! Got to new hotel at 1am. Lone women beware!

@MikScarlet @MotabilityOps Wait, you need to save up £7K for the deposit (which you don't get back), but if you have more than £6K in savings they cut your benefits...

The people running @MotabilityOps should be ashamed. Just looked online at what cars are available & it's now £7k deposit for a Vauxhall Astra. A deposit you never get back. I wouldn't be able to leave my home if I had any involvement in putting that change in place.

@2e0rtb quick update - it was the joystick module itself. Having ruled out the cables, I decided to open the module. Luckily my carbide lathe tool set had a suitable sized Torx driver in it. The cable linking the joystick itself to the module's main PCB had become dislodged.

@OrMakeOne Haha it is CANBUS, I called it 😄 Official software is here industrial.curtisswright.com/en-gb/medical-… , as you can see it's pretty straightforward. I bet there are schematics for a PC dongle freely available and cheaply constructed too - hang on to that damaged cable, you might be able to reuse it

@2e0rtb Interesting. Theoretically any R-Net Joystick Module is meant to work with any R-Net Motor Controller... It means next to nothing to me, but there's a large repository of work on trying to get R-Net opened up on GitHub. github.com/redragonx/can2…

@2e0rtb hate to pester you but things are dire here. I did a check on just the electrics not long ago and everything was fine. Now, with the machine assembled, it gives me a "JSM Joystick Error" and refuses to do anything. I've continuity tested both R-Net leads and think (ctd)

@OrMakeOne Modes are stored in motor controller (although least on mine), and you tell it what the inputs should mean. It has a bunch of parameters like spin up time, and range for analogue controls, so for my scooter, 0-33% is "apply regen", 33-66% is "coast" and 66-100% is "accelerate"

@2e0rtb I snapped up a spare R-Net joystick module on eBay for a tiny fraction of what they usually cost, but will still likely need to program it, assuming that the various modes are stored on the joystick module and not the motor controller module.

@OrMakeOne I haven't tried the software yet, but it's not computer programming, it's just like setting your preferred keys in a video game - you add the input device by serial number, the joystick outputs A, B, C, D and you just tell it A means forward, B is right, C is back and D is left

@2e0rtb Unfortunately I have next to no programming skills, so figuring something like this out would be a challenge for me. On the other hand, I might be able to track someone down who has a cable - official or otherwise.
