Why have I seen so many people saying they are cancelling their R2 order because they don’t want a taxi as their vehicle? That’s like saying I don’t want a computer because my work has them there… Am I crazy?

@future_yas I wasn't into the idea of them selling out their software/hardware stack to VW. I also don't think the R2 is a great taxi from a design perspective for cities. $300m for 19.55m new shares and more coming. Great brand, just need these type of deals for survival. 🤷

What the hell is going on?! I get Rivian can use the money and stock pump from these types of announcements but for me as a consumer, it's not a good look for the brand image.

@Hilbe R1S does have a sloped back, it's just hidden with the spoiler thingy on the top. I think this is saying calculate it using the slope and aero features of the vehicle, not the outside visual 'shape'.

Rivian has a patent application made public today for estimating the coefficient of drag. It's not very interesting...until you look at the vehicles shown. 1 is clearly an R1S, the other 2 though? Remember, there's still 1 vehicle on the Gen 2 platform that has not been announced yet. See below pictures and slide from Investors Day 2024. 🤔

R2 is perfectly designed for this with insane rear leg room and cargo space for days. Definitely more versatile than other options out there.

@R1Stephanie I'm a geology nerd so I appreciate a natural countertop. I just did a soapstone in our kitchen. It's soft, but impenetrable which is key as my wife likes to make a mess and not clean it up right away. Thanks for sharing the name on it, I'd love this in our bathroom.

@ArrOneTee Only slab I fell in love with and fit 5'x8' island. Had enough for a small bathroom counter too. It's titanium/tambora tide granite at daltile and is brushed/leather raised finish. Has movement in the veins and is not manmade. Very natural but striking. daltile.com/products/slab/…

**R2 Max Pack Speculation** RJ has said that the 2026 R2 ships with the largest battery option. I do think Rivian will do like they did on R1 - launch with the Large battery pack and later introduce a Max battery pack option. The Max is a different energy density pack with the same number of cells as the Large on R1 Gen 1. R2 could have a different cell chemistry and go from 87 kWh to something over 100 kWh usable. The BMW iX3 with 4695 cells like R2 has ~112 kWh usable. This change would enable a 400+ miles of range R2 with the same efficiency. Now let us fast forward to 2027. What happens in 2027? Rivian starts using cells made at LG ES in Queen Creek, AZ. I've previously said I think there are 2 major changes coming for R2 in the next 2 years: domestic cells in 2027 and Georgia plant coming online in 2028. Either of these would be opportunities to unveil a Max pack option for R2. Personally, I intentionally signed a 3 year lease on my R1T in 2025 to put me into 2028 for decisions on my next vehicle - an R2/R3X made in Georgia. Thoughts?
