This post is an excellent litmus test for understanding of just war theory. Despite the fact that I can see how effective this would be, I must oppose it because the damage it would do to my enemy (who bashes in my mailbox) would far outweigh the good of saving my mailbox. Its disproportionality is opposed by our duty in charity (and even justice) to watch out even for the good of our enemies. (Yes, by the way, I have had my mailbox bashed in by random vandals.)

I post woke PhD dissertations to highlight the absurdity of what passes for legitimate scholarship today. Here's a clinical psychology PhD dissertation-in-the-making on the "social, psychological, and emotional experiences of gender diverse individuals" at Comic Cons. I've read enough dissertations like this to know it will probably consist of using qualitative "reflexive thematic analysis" on 10-20 interviews to pick out various themes, which will then be subjectively interpreted and discussed at length through a lens of social justice activism. This person (they/them) will then be granted the highest academic credential possible.

@rjb77ca @NewsLiberdade It felt weird because in CA the police don’t police communities. Which is why El Salvador is now nicer than anywhere in CA that doesn’t contain mostly rich people.

@NewsLiberdade I just spoke to a young woman from CA who visited El Salvador for the first time in years. She marveled at how night and day it was! Totally clean and safe. She said her only concern was it felt a little weird having military dressed men keeping their eyes on communities.

lots of strange reactions to this game. let’s clear some things up: childless men do not have paternal instincts the way that childless women have maternal instincts (we observe this even in the way little girls play vs. little boys). men first experience paternal instincts once they have their own children - and typically, those paternal instincts are only ever felt for their own children, and no one else’s. men are not nurturers. men don’t gush over cute kids in public. men don’t have baby fever. if a man wants to possess a child for any reason other than it being a product of his own lineage, he is likely a predator. and you’d be taking the feminist/radical gender abolitionist position to protest any of the above points. this should explain why a “dad simulator” game marketed to mostly childless men gives people the creeps.

@RebelWithHonor @Teddy21btc @theblessedsalt In this case, the ends do justify the mean. The end is to punish vandals enough that they stop vandalising. The means is a mailbox that hurts the vandal (and only the vandal) if (and only if) they try to vandalise the mailbox. It is perfect in its proportionality.

Do I have a fraction of the years of training needed to be able to prove a psychiatrist wrong or credibly pick apart their findings? Have I delved deeply into the court case and know all the details? @DailyMail Not gonna make any friends here but the article says he was found not criminally responsible because of a schizophrenia diagnosis. If a mentally ill person commits a violent crime because a voice in their head told them to - it's a crime, but how does that count as "terrorism"?
