Psychotherapy is grossly dominated by women- clinicians and researchers-but the industry has not shown its value, and increasingly evidence that it is to blame for medical travesties like over-prescription of SSRIs, ADHD drugs, autism diagnosis and medical gender transition of children. Not to mention creating a navel-gazing culture obsessed with diagnoses and victimhood. I think what you are saying can be simpler said, without judgmental overtones: “Maybe we should focus more on in-person interactions, working together, playing together, sharing life experiences, being together out in nature, genuine interactions … Rather than being too cerebral analyzing life from distant therapist chairs. [I’d agree with that]

Virginia’s General Assembly just made history. A bill establishing the Virginia Boys and Men Advisory Commission—the first of its kind in the nation—has passed both chambers with overwhelming bipartisan support. The commission will focus on education inequity, economic opportunity, health outcomes, family life, and the impact of social media on boys and men in the Commonwealth. The bill now awaits Gov. Spanberger’s signature.
