Malema Cleared as Suspended TMPD Deputy Chief Denies EFF Link to Security Tender List Allegations Suspended Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Deputy Chief Umashi Dhlamini clarified that EFF leader Julius Malema was not involved in providing a controversial list of preferred security companies for an anti-land invasion tender. Two individuals, identified as Muzi Mazibuko and Sipho, approached him in March 2025. They claimed to represent the EFF and its leader (often called "CIC Juju"), saying they had met with the City’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Gareth Mnisi and were pushing for seven specific companies to be awarded the contract. Dhlamini sent a WhatsApp message to Sergeant Fannie Nkosi that referenced the list as coming from the "Red Berets" (EFF) and asked Nkosi to check with the CFO whether it matched "his from CIC Juju." He has now explained that this reference was only a request to verify the pair’s claims, and the story was untrue.

LATEST: Julius Mkhwanazi is being held at a police station on the East Rand. He will appear in court on Monday. Sources say the arrest of at least two more Ekhurhuleni officials is outstanding. It’s believed they are searching for them. @pule_jones and I are also told that @RSA_IPID was not told of the arrest and it has angered them. IPID has been probing Mkhwanazi for some years. @HeidiGiokos
