I’m another chunk of transfers away from throwing in the towel on CBB. This is just not sustainable. The rule changes being made are ones purely to put $ back in the pockets of the P5/NCAA, while the essential rule changes aren’t being made. It’s currently all spiraling.

Team full of transfers just won the national title in football and basketball. So sad to see what college sports have become.

@ChflChuck Agree to disagree. It's not sustainable. I don't really mind the NIL, but the free agency every year has gotta go.

@Zigmanfreud How do you feel about Trump’s executive order? I think it’s the only way to address the problem.

NIL isn’t the problem in college basketball, the transfer portal is.

@NotAvgLiberal Depends on why they need financial help. For example, did they lose their job or because they are a drug addict, there is a difference

Question for Liberals - (Trying to prove a point) If you had a MAGA family member, Who constantly pushed their MAGA ideology on you, Who referred to you with the usual MAGA rhetoric of being a “Libtard” “Woke” “Soyboy” (Just to name a few) Now that same MAGA family member needed financial help… Would you help them?

@ronaldusseryjr @micj46tur See Exhibit A Carson Beck. Openly mocked the reporter that he never went to a class or took a class at Miami. So all of a sudden he had the hankering for a post-graduate degree at age 24 got put up in a $4 million dollar mansion on South Beach never went to a class and this is ok

For decades, nobody pushed for federal regulation while athletes generated billions without compensation. The urgency to "save college sports" only arrived once players started seeing some of the money, and that framing tells you a lot.
Mit Winter@WinterSportsLaw

As @JayBilas correctly points out, there’s a lot of hypocrisy in college athletics right now. It’s only when athletes begin to get paid that it’s necessary to have a federal law to “save college sports.”

@CoachJFreeman86 How many young men are not graduating with degrees bc they transferred to 4 schools over 5 years, Jason? I don’t have an issue with players getting paid..but too many of them will be entering ‘real life’ without anything to show for their last 5 years.

So how are college sports broken? For who? -for the the fans that can’t handle one of “their” players leaving? -because the athletes are getting paid? College sports are as good as ever. Ask Indiana if it is broken. A lot of pathetic “get off my lawn” hypocrites.

@CoachJFreeman86 Of course Indiana thinks college sports is fine. They’re one of the haves but the realism of the matter is this…. Unless your school is able to build a 40M roster in football and at least a 20M dollar roster in basketball you can’t win. Too many schools have zero chance now.

True “amateur sports” don’t make billions of dollars and pay their coaches millions. Fact. What other multi billion dollar industry is getting an antitrust exemption from Congress? There isn’t one. Fact. Stop violating the law. Bargain with players. Stop crying poverty. Coach Cal is out of the game once it becomes transactional? Bad news. It’s now. And he’s been “transactional” his entire career during each contract negotiation.

President Trump has officially signed an executive order to bring back some structure to college sports. The executive order’s key directives: • 5 years to play 5 seasons • One free transfer for everyone • A second transfer would result in an automatic redshirt

Tennessee assistant Gregg Polinsky went on @FOXSportsKnox and ripped the transfer portal process. College basketball is now “semi-pro with people that are naive to the situation.” And then there are the agents getting 10-20% … “an unrealistic value.” on3.com/teams/tennesse…

@CFBChuckk No, they should only transfer once the school has taken a huge investment on them and I haven’t looked and I don’t think anyone else has either yet but I guarantee you with all those transfers they’re not getting degrees they’re not graduating and they’re not being developed

College athletes don’t need to be limited to 1 transfer and 1 transfer only…. Just make whatever contract they sign 100% enforceable. 1, 2, 3, 4 year deal. Whatever it is when they put pen to paper.
