STATEMENT ON THE CANCELLATION OF AUTOMATED SPEED ENFORCEMENT CAMERAS IN ONTARIO Today, Premier Ford announced that the Provincial government will soon be introducing legislation to ban automated speed enforcement (ASE) cameras across Ontario. As I have previously communicated, the Town of Aurora has never invested in ASE cameras – the cameras operating within Aurora are located on Regional roads and fall under the jurisdiction of York Region. With the passage of Provincial legislation, these cameras would be removed from Aurora’s roads. I want to reassure residents that the cancellation of this program will have no financial impact here in Aurora. We had not purchased equipment or implemented cameras. While many have seen ASE as a tool to help curb speeding in school zones, I want to be clear that even with their removal, our commitment to road safety remains unchanged. We will continue to use every tool available to protect drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and most importantly, children and other vulnerable road users. I would like to thank the Province for providing clarity on this issue, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are not spent on a program that will not continue. I also welcome the establishment of a new provincial fund to help municipalities implement alternative safety measures on our roadways. I look forward to continued collaboration with the Province, York Region and York Regional Police on effective measures to keep our community safe.

JavaScript roomba is wireless! I tried a few approaches and ended up making a c++ websocket server that runs on the ESP32. Then I whipped up a little react app to talk directly from the browser over websockets. Still needs polish and I want to power it entirely from the roombas battery

I’ve been wanting to do permanent Christmas lights on our house for a few years. I’ve used the LED light strips in a few projects, but now I’m testing a few “puck” and “pixel” styles to see what will work best. Whipped up a little circuit to test them out

Definitely feel for all of the people who may have been left stranded by @WestJet … @AirCanada did the same to me and I had to end up paying and finding my own way home on a competitor airline… when I went to seek compensation, of course Air Canada claimed ‘safety’…

Over a year later and this system of clear shoe boxes has been the ultimate cable storage system. I love being able to quickly pop open a box and grab or toss in a cable.
