Can someone explain to me how after a major blizzard with widespread 2"-5" liquid equivalents the "drought" has not improved... Is this not added till it melts?

Couple things.
1. Feb 5, 2010. SNE essentially was left out of this one.
Crippling blizzard mid Atlantic. Only 1-2” SNE.
2. Presidents’ Day 2003: different story.
Blizzard makes it to Boston.
Boston got 27”
Hope for something closer to 2003…not 2010…if you’re in SNE and you like snow.

If you’ve seen people throwing around the February 5 2010 blizzard as an analog for the upcoming weekend storm… don’t be so quick to dismiss it as hype/clickbait I am not one to exaggerate for clicks. This upcoming pattern might very well be the real deal for major snowstorms
