@TankyBitch @Torykbirdthrowa @WolfdawgArt Korean War is a bit of a dead end, they released some metal kits but no further support. Empress has a lovely Vietnam range. Warlords Italian kits are fairly new and their about to release a load more with the Armies of Italy book, so a good time to get stuck in!

@MightyJohanitor @idioticsynergy Yeah the platoon system was awesome, I really liked the flexibility of adding supporting elements to the platoon and company command sections. Granted the Imperial Guard were very expensive to collect at the time!

@rosslikesfilms No English word has an unstressed ee sound followed by a syllable with a neutral vowel. You either shorten the ee (so it becomes Attliton), or you move the stress onto the ee (making it rhyme with Nuneaton), or you pronounce the o in ton fully (so it sounds like Attlee Ton)

"Elizabethtown" sounds like the capital of a British colony, "Attleeton" is unpronounceable, the others all sound like houses in a school

@RoscMan @HashionDiscord @idioticsynergy Yeah and it was great, players were encouraged to build and field thematic armies. It was a hold over from when the game was still a wargame with role-playing elements to the competitive tactical snap we have today.

@Aeldarellie The game would be a lot healthier if they did rotating factions in the starters (Cut the sprues where each side can be a Combat Patrol) Also make Combat Patrol better like Spearhead.

"All guard are just the same 5+ save lasgun dudes! You don't need different models, they are all the same!" So here is an army I finished at the end of last year, based of the City Fight Regiment list from Chapter Approved 3rd Ed. It uses an armored fist squad (the only squad with lasguns btw), commandos who roll a random extra vet skill, hive gang militia with alt leaders and loadouts, urban snipers, and booby traps taken from city fight stratagems. This is what 40k guard and the game in general could be like. This is how different an army could be from stock standard "Mass dudes with rifles". All using ranges of different guard and militia figs with little kitbash and no 3D print cause that's how large the range was. It's not rose tinted glasses. It's not expecting something the "poor widdle multi billion dollar corporation can't possibly do!" It's knowing it can be done and knowing your a POS poser who doesn't know what the fuck you're talking about.

@ZyrantRex It's pretty funny when you consider how many metal and plastic kits the Perry twins have produced over the years for the Napoleonic wars covering multiple major & minor nations and periods which are still on sale and ever expanding.
