@TrumpFan24_ Hi! Thank you for reaching out. Even though the test button still works, a unit from 1999 is well past its recommended lifespan. Over time, sensors lose sensitivity—even if the alarm seems fine. We recommend replacing the unit to ensure your safety. -Juan

I have 2 @FirstAlert smoke detectors & each has false alarmed in the last few months. At least it had the decency to alarm in the daytime, which has never happened before. You know what else has never happened before? A fire at my house. But I've had lots & lots of alarms. Sucks.

Yet another BRAND NEW @FirstAlert smoke detector has gone defective after only a couple of weeks. This time, a BRK "10 year" sealed battery model. Guess it's time to try the competition again, but @KiddeSafety go bad too. Do they both unload their defectives on FL or something?

Worst customer service from @FirstAlert. It would be nice if I could actually talk to someone on the phone about my order, but I suppose that's too much to ask!

@FirstAlert any plans to sell your @madebygoogle replacement smoke detectors outside of the USA? Seems bizarre to only market them to such a small market given the originals were worldwide?

I’m very bummed that Google discontinued their Nest Protect smoke/CO2 alarms exactly one month before ours turn 10 years old and need to be replaced. They’re shilling a new product by First Alert that looks inferior and only available for pre-order. So inop detectors for a bit.😑

I usually just throw them out. @FirstAlert is this what you call normal? It's horrible. Has anyone there ever heard the story "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"? There has to be a better way than this.

I have never had a real fire in my house & I've been around for almost 65 yrs. I have, however, had many, many smoke detectors go off, probably a dozen over the years, but none of them anywhere near EOL. The latest one was just now, although they are usually at 2am. 1/x

Uodate: New @FirstAlert SC5 detectors were delivered this weekend. Huge disappointment. It’s an inferior product to Nest in every way. I bought them with the promise that their next device would include nightlight sensors. They don’t. Plus, the volume is not as loud as Nest and you need to download their app to install (instead of simply through Google). They have a Nest adapter for hardwire and fit into Nest brackets, so install is easy, but the app is clunky and again, no nightlight. My kids have grown up with the Nests in their room for 10 years. It’s unbelievable a so-called replacement wouldn’t have this feature when I can buy 6 basic detectors for 1/5th the cost elsewhere. Not worth the price tag. Sending back.

@unclefaddy Hi @unclefaddy, thanks for reaching out! For the SC9120B, a solid green light typically indicates normal operation. If you see a blinking green LED, we recommend replacing the batteries. For more detailed help, feel free to DM us or call our support team at 1-800-323-9005. -Dan

@FirstAlert I have three SC9120B hardwired with battery backup. They all blink green about every minute. Manual says they should be solid green for solid operation. I've been testing them and everything seems to be ok outside the blinking green LED. What does this mean? Thanks.

@Thatweathergeek Hello Brayden! We currently do not offer a hardwired dual sensor model. However, we can recommend models SA3210 or SA320, they are battery-powered and equipped with high-precision dual sensors for reliable performance! -Lucero

@Coolio_Wolfus Unfortunately, the SC5 isn’t approved for UK use at this time. First Alert is considering expanding the product for other global region in the future. Please stay tuned for future product announcements. For now, we recommend choosing a UK-certified alternative. -Lucero

Another @FirstAlert smoke detector is dead. Random beeps, no pattern, 1-60 beeps per minute, depending on how it feels. Good @Duracell battery in it, swapped with a brand new @Energizer to check. Manufactured November of 22...so maybe 2 years of use. Nowhere near the "5-7 years" promised. This will be the 3rd I have replaced in last year for hardware failure. All purchased by the builder so I don't have "receipts of retail purchase" so they don't have to honor warranty. But it's a shit product. And that's a shame, when your life relies on something that can't function properly.

@FirstAlert my wood stove just backed up and filled the whole house with smoke. Not 1 of the 7 first alert smoke detectors or the 2 carbon monoxide detectors went off. But I make toast with no smoke and the toaster 20ft away from the toaster, every detector goes off.
