As this site continues to fall away from being usable, I'm just going to say that I can be found on @InfernoDeity@mstdn.ca.

@LadyBlackwel @ErinInTheMorn Not quite - s. 33 of the charter is very targetted in what it can act "notwithstanding", only including very specific parts of the charter itself.

@ErinInTheMorn Rarely used outside Quebec but yeah, that's a constitutional clause that allows provinces to disregard federal law up to and including the Constitution itself.

One of the provinces in Canada is apparently using a rarely used provision called “the nonwithstanding clause” to suspend equality for trans people and ignore a court ruling on the forced outing of trans students. They are willing to throw away everything to target trans kids.

You are completely ignoring the part of the amendment he uses in his argument, “subject to the jurisdiction” and whether or not illegal immigrants are subject to the jurisdiction. If he’s wrong explain why, don’t quote the same amendment he quotes to make his point and I mostly agree with you on this but you’re being intellectually dishonest

@JJ_McCullough Am I misreading this situation? It was an obvious oversight by the Speakers staff, why is this even the focus after an otherwise successful event with Zelensky, etc.

@brianmose12 @BadLegalTakes Have you ever heard of the crime of Murder? It's kinda well-known. Murder is defined as intentional homicide - intent to commit homicide is one of its elements. You cannot be guilty of Murder without that intent.

@TWilsonOttawa Frightening that you describe Canada as having a massive gun community. We don't have a huge population as compared to very many countries. And there is absolutely no need for machine guns that fire X number of bullets in X number of seconds. Peace? Doesn't look like it.

Well, this is far more common than you’d think. Canada’s massive gun community is probably one of the most diverse cross sections of any demographic, but the Liberals have forced gun owners to one side with their attacks. He’s not wrong. It’s a gift to the Conservatives and a strong voting block, with money.

Left-leaning Gun Owner Spits Facts on C-21 Something the #Liberals, @NDP & @BlocQuebecois just don't seem to understand is that law-abiding gun owners come in all political stripes. Take 🇨🇦 Tiktoker 'The Warrior Philosopher' for example, who not only describes himself as a 'social democrat' politically, but who also doesn't support the NDP-Liberal-Bloc coalitions attack on lawful firearms owners. Listen as he explains Canadian gun laws, gives his opinion on #guncontrol Bill C-21, and why he thinks 'the left' should drop their campaign against gun owners. Regardless of political affiliation, Canadians across the country KNOW that attacking lawful, licensed gun owners with unnecessary gun bans and regulation, is not the way to stop criminal gun violence (or win elections, for that matter). If @JustinTrudeau, the @Liberal_Party, and their partners continue down this path, one thing is for certain: It will go very badly for them next election. #cdnpoli #politics #ScrapC21 #ScrapOIC #guns

@OliveOwl6 @USConst_Amend_I @AzusaWife111 So then for example, if there was a state like Oklahoma that made it illegal to raise the red flag of anarchy, and you decided to raise a red flag of anarchy as a form of free speech, would you be free to do so, just not free to avoid the consequences of doing so?

I protect your right to burn the American flag in protest. Jailing people for doing it would violate me.

@sphynxbtc @krassenstein Companies do not need to comply with warrant's directed at third parties (they'd have to be subpeonaed/named in the warrant directly instead). Further, they do not need to have the capability to comply with the warrant in the first place.

@krassenstein Companies must comply with court-ordered warrants. Otherwise, the owners will face jail themselves. How hard is this to understand?

The “we hate cancel culture” crowd is now calling to cancel Liberty Safe since they gave access to the FBI to search the safe of a January 6th suspect. Liberty Safe gave the codes up after being presented a court-approved warrant to do so. Why are republicans calling to cancel companies who comply with law enforcement? In 2016 my home was raided and homeland security searched my safe deposit box at the back. I didn’t complain once or call for the canceling of Bank of America. Why? Because it wasn’t the Bank’s fault and I had nothing to hide. Stop trying to cancel people who are complying with the law.

@krassenstein My question is why the company had such an override code in the first place to give to LEOs. IMO that's the egregious action. Any secure thing with a backdoor like that is not secure.

@SBallistics @IanRunkle And for people who couldn't care less about LE having a backdoor to their safe: There's no such thing as a backdoor only one person can use, and Security Through Obscurity is no Security at all.

GUN BAN FAIL: A London couple arrested with over $500K in illegal drugs & prohibited firearm A London Ontario couple are facing multiple charges after police searched an east-end home, seizing more than $540,000 in illegal drugs. Fentanyl, carfentanil, crystal meth, cocaine, and other illegal substances were found as well as a .357 calibre revolver with 48 rounds of ammunition. Both were charged with multiple drug trafficking and firearm offences. The man, Kenneth St. Onge (45), was already on a gun ban order at the time of the arrest.
