We need the mayor to stand up and say ‘Enough is Enough’. It’s a top priority for our members to look after the citizens of Toronto and these men and women deserve to be supported wholeheartedly by the city.

With 637 officers injured in the line of duty so far this year, TPA President @TPAReid joined @GregBradyTO on Toronto Today to discuss the real dangers @TorontoPolice face every time they report for duty. “We need the Mayor to stand up and say ‘Enough is Enough’. It’s time the mayor, councillors & TPSB come out & support our members. They won’t deal with us & are forcing us into arbitration. What msg does that send to our members? It’s says they don’t care enough to do what other surrounding areas have done: which is look after the police

Heard from @TPAReid this morning. Police are upset that some city councillors and the mayor did not attend the hospital after a cop was shot in the line of duty earlier this week. Meanwhile, Pierre Poilievre called the perp a “dirtbag.” @MooreintheAM asks, are you upset by this?

Hey @TPSBoard @LilyChengTO @CllrAmberMorley in case you haven’t heard, one of our members was shot and seriously injured while protecting our city. As the employer, we may have missed your words of support or expressed concern about our member. Would you mind sharing them again?

Enough is Enough. 637 of our officers. 637 of our colleagues. 637 of our friends. Injured in the line of duty—putting their lives on the line every single day to keep this city safe. And what do we get in return? A broken court system that lets repeat offenders out on bail and local and federal politicians who refuse to acknowledge the true dangers our officers face. Now, to make matters worse, after months of negotiations, we’ve been pushed into binding arbitration to settle our contract. The very people risking their lives to protect this city are being told to wait and hope for a fair deal, while local politicians sit on their hands, failing to step up and do what’s right for the men and women on the frontlines. It’s time for those in power to get their priorities straight. You can’t talk about “public safety” while neglecting the very officers who make it possible. This is beyond just a dangerous job—it’s become a job where the risk of injury or worse is rising by the day. We won’t stand by and let our members face this threat without the support and protections they deserve. No more bail for repeat offenders. No more delays in getting our officers a fair contract. Our members deserve better, and the city deserves better. The time for action is NOW. @TPAReid @TPACallanan @TpaGrande @TPATomlinson @TPACampbell @MikeHarrisTPA @corrigan4u @TPARonTait @TPAGregoris

An officer being shot has a rippling affect across our Service. Not just for our members, but for their families, and the families of every officer on the road every day and night. The reality is, our members’ families are sitting home wondering “is my loved one going to come home tonight?” This is a problem and these are the issues our members and their families face every day. Members - if you or your family is struggling, please reach out to the TPA or one of the organizations listed here. If you believe a colleague is struggling, please offer your support. Look after yourselves, your families and your colleagues. @TPSWellnessUnit @TorontoBTB @BootsOTGround @TPAReid @TPACallanan @TpaGrande @TPATomlinson @TPACampbell @MikeHarrisTPA @corrigan4u @TPARonTait @TPAGregoris

Our members go to call after call, another shooting, another stabbing, another homicide. Communities are left to pick up the pieces, our members are criticized every day, and yet our local government is silent on these issues. @TPAReid torontosun.com/news/local-new…

Our officers handled a difficult arrest with professionalism, using the necessary force to ensure everyone's safety. The unhelpful criticism from a former @TPSBoard Chair undermines their hard work and dedication. We stand by our members. cbc.ca/news/canada/to… @TPAReid
