The facts are facts. After years of defunding the police, new investments in policing with the Multi-Year Hiring Plan, combined with the tireless dedication of our members, have helped reduce crime. But we know there’s much more work to be done. 🎙️ Listen to President @TPACampbell address questions around safety in our city on @NEWSTALK1010 with @jerryagar1010.

Incredible, life-saving work by all teams involved in this international child sexual abuse and exploitation investigation. A total of 136 charges were laid, four children were rescued, and an offender is being held responsible for these heinous crimes. This outcome is a prime example of the power of global collaboration. We are proud to see the diligent and professional efforts of our members contribute to this successful investigation. Protecting children remains one of our most important responsibilities. Police believe there may be more victims, and anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 416-808-8500.

Thank you, @MayorOliviaChow, for recognizing the tireless efforts of our members, alongside our fellow first responders at @Local416 and @TPFFA. Toronto is a city we are proud to represent and one we are honoured to protect. We remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all who call it home. Together, even in the wake of violence, we will continue to stand strong.

This weekend was a difficult one. Right now, families are mourning loved ones or helping them recover from injuries. The pain caused by gun violence is unimaginable. I have every confidence in the @torontopolice and have spoken to the Federal Public Safety Minister, urging him to work with his American counterpart to stem the flow of illegal guns into our streets. The spirit of Toronto is resilient. We will not let reckless criminals stop our tradition of outdoor street festivals.

It has been a violent weekend in our city with multiple shootings and homicides. Each one has tasked our members from every unit and every division. Their dedication and professionalism can not go unnoticed, especially in cases where they ran towards danger to keep people safe. Last night’s street festival should have been a time of celebration, but when gunfire and chaos broke out, our members were there. We thank them for their courage.

Durham Regional Police
The Durham Regional Police Service is profoundly saddened by the tragic death of Constable in Training (CIT) Tyrone Magbitang, 27, who was involved in a motor vehicle collision while travelling to the Ontario Police College on July 7, 2026. CIT Magbitang joined the Durham Regional Police Service as a Special Constable in May 2023. In April of this year, he took the next step toward achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer when he was selected as a police constable recruit. Tyrone was a compassionate, dedicated, and service-driven individual who believed deeply in helping others and making a positive difference in the community. Following his Police Foundations education, he pursued a career in public safety with determination, humility, and an unwavering commitment to serving those around him. Although his time with our Service was far too short, Tyrone made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. He will be remembered for his kindness, professionalism, and the tremendous potential he brought to our organization. His loss is deeply felt throughout the Durham Regional Police Service and the wider policing community. Today, CIT Magbitang will be transported from London, Ontario, to the Centre for Forensic Sciences (CFS) in Toronto. Loved ones and members of the Durham Regional Police Service will accompany him as a mark of respect and in recognition of his service and commitment to the profession he aspired to join. On behalf of the Durham Regional Police Service, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Tyrone’s family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones. We mourn alongside them and remain committed to supporting all those affected by this unimaginable loss. We respectfully ask that the privacy of Tyrone’s family and those mourning his loss be honoured during this difficult time. #heroesinlife

Earlier today, the TPA and our members joined the national policing community to honour the life and legacy of Constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane of the @SPVM and the @FPPM_. In recent weeks, we have gathered far too many times to honour those who have died in the line of duty. Each service is a solemn reminder that police officers across Canada willingly place themselves in harm's way to protect others. Their ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. #HeroesInLife

The Toronto Police Association extends its sincere condolences to the @DRPS and the @AssociationDrp following the tragic motor vehicle collision involving two Constables-in-Training. We mourn the heartbreaking loss of one member and are hoping for the full and safe recovery of the other. Our thoughts are with their colleagues and loved ones. Everyone who decides to wear the uniform is part of the Canadian policing family. We have connected with both Chief Moreira and President Tummonds to offer our full support during this difficult time.

Today, the Durham Regional Police Service is mourning a profound loss following a tragic motor vehicle collision near the Ontario Police College involving two Constables in Training (CIT) who were travelling to training. It is with deep sadness that I share that one CIT has lost their life, while the other remains in life-threatening condition. During this difficult time, our focus is on supporting the families of our CIT's, as well as their classmates, instructors, friends, and members of our Service who are grieving this tragic loss. We will continue to ensure they receive the care and support they need. We ask that the public respect the privacy of the families and all those affected as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy, and as notifications continue. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police, and we will not be providing any further details at this time. - Chief Peter Moreira

Once again, President @TPACampbell spoke on @am640 with @gregbradyx about the deeply concerning and unacceptable violence directed at our members. Everyone who wears the uniform understands the risks that come with the job. That reality, however, does not excuse the targeted aggression our members continue to face, and those responsible must be held fully accountable. We proudly stand behind our nearly 9,000 members who put themselves in harm's way every day to keep our communities safe. Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed.

Meet Bolt, our newest @TPSk9 police dog who wasted no time proving himself!⚡️🐾 After @TPS22Div officers stopped a stolen vehicle, the driver tried to escape on foot. Guided by our @comm911tps dispatcher, Bolt and his handler got to work, quickly tracking down the suspect inside of an oversized garbage bin (who was in breach of release conditions on previous car thefts.) Great job to all the officers and dispatchers involved, including our new star Bolt!
