🗣️ “We need to get serious about safety.” Don’t miss President @TPACampbell's monthly radio interview with @jerryagar1010 as he breaks down the TPA’s recent appearance before the Senate Committee on bail reform, the TTC changes we’re pushing for, and other key public safety issues impacting our city.

It was a wonderful evening at the Toronto Crime Stoppers Chief of Police Dinner yesterday, where the TPA joined members of the policing community and political leaders to celebrate another outstanding year of service. Public tips help our members do their jobs with professionalism and purpose. We’re proud to stand alongside our partners in keeping our city safe. Thank you again for the invitation and a memorable night!

🎥 Last week, President @TPACampbell appeared before the Senate Standing Committee to speak on the realities of crime in Toronto and why we support the passage of the Bail and Sentencing Reform Act (Bill C-14). Watch as he addresses problematic information gaps for offenders released on bail, how the existing system for sureties fails, and what needs to change for public safety.

Today, at the 27th Annual Ontario Police Memorial Foundation's Ceremony of Remembrance, we stood alongside our policing partners to pay tribute to the brave men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty. Every badge number represents an officer who embodied an unwavering commitment to safety. Every name represents a person who brought courage and dedication to their service. Our thoughts are with their families, friends, and colleagues as we honour the legacy they leave behind. We will remember them always. #HeroesInLife

With our letter to Prime Minister @MarkJCarney and Premier @fordnation in February, to our meetings this week in Ottawa, the TPA has long called on all levels of government to recognize the unique pressures our members face. Thank you to Minister @gary_srp for hearing us and investing directly in Toronto and in the safety and security of the City as we host the FIFA World Cup. But FIFA is one event in a city that faces these pressures year-round. It is our hope today’s funding announcement will be followed by others from both the federal and provincial governments.

🎥 Advocacy in motion. And we’re not slowing down. This week, the TPA was in Ottawa for the Canadian Police Association’s Lobby Days, meeting with government officials and making our priorities clear. Representing our members’ voices at the highest levels is a responsibility we take seriously, and we are proud to remain actively engaged in the political space. Through every discussion, we continue working to strengthen public safety across our communities. #TPAProud

🎙️ This morning on @am640, President @TPACampbell raised concerns with @hank_idsinga about comments made during the media tour for his book, The High Road: Confessions of a Homicide Cop. Listen to the full conversation, including President Campbell defending our members from any unfair portrayals.

The Toronto Police Association fundamentally opposes the Solicitor General’s plan for the OPP to take over some policing in Toronto. This includes traffic safety on our major arterial routes and Mounted and Marine functions at Ontario Place and along its waterfront.   We believe this is a gross overreach which will develop a fragmented system, hurting both the city and our members.   Our official position and specific requests are outlined in the attached correspondence.

The Toronto Police Association has been clear about its position on the reviews announced in the wake of Project South. We believe strongly that the vast majority of our members are honest, hard-working professionals who put others’ safety before their own, and it is our responsibility, as their labour representatives, to ensure they are not collateral damage. We are cautiously optimistic that this will not happen during this review. After speaking with Inspector General Teschner and Mr. Hourigan this morning, the TPA is confident that the Association and its members will be included in this work. We look forward to being at the table to ensure the review remains focused on system-level practices, not on individual conduct.

With over 8,800 uniform and civilian members, we know the best insights come straight from the source. Connecting with members is at the core of what we do. This morning, President @TPACampbell, Vice President @TPACallanan, and Chief Labour Relations Officer Drew Johnston visited @ParkingTPS East to listen, learn, and engage. Thank you for the conversations. Let's keep them going. 🤝

🗣️ "I'm not going to be polite anymore. The TTC is a mess." Our stance is clear: Torontonians need a public transit system free from crime and disorder. Real change is overdue and our members are part of the solution.
President @TPACampbell joined @am640 with @gregbradyx and @hank_idsinga to urge action from the City of Toronto. Tune in now.

Last night, Councillor @BradMBradford joined our members at @TPS51Div for a ride-along, gaining firsthand insight into the critical work they do across the community. The evening included an up-close look at our Mobile Crisis Intervention Teams and the vital support they provide to individuals experiencing mental health crises. Thank you for taking the time to see this important work in action.

It’s time for BOLD action. If we are going to turn the page on the current state of public transit, we strongly encourage the City to transfer the resources and responsibility of TTC security to the @TorontoPolice and our members. With a robust deployment of TPS Police Officers and Special Constables, we will help the TTC create the public transit system Torontonians deserve.
