Thank you, Minister @TeamKerzner, for recognizing the collective efforts of our members that contributed to today’s successful arrest. We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and all those impacted by this concerning event. Hate-motivated violence has no place in our city and will not be tolerated. Our members remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting every community across Toronto and ensuring all residents feel safe and supported.
Michael Kerzner@TeamKerzner

A short time ago, I spoke at a news conference held outside our revered Bobov synagogue on Bathurst street, in the heart and centre of our local Jewish community. Last evening, they were attacked by cowards. Our Toronto Police @TorontoPolice @TPAca @TPS32Div @TPSMyronDemkiw acted swiftly to bring those responsible to justice. I also want to especially acknowledge @Shomrimtoronto for their incredible care and leadership. An attack on the Jewish community is an attack on the values of our province and country. Everyone who is a part of the fabric of this province must stand together and call out anti-semitism for what it is; it is hate, and it is unacceptable. @MichelleC_PC @PasternakTO @bnaibrithcanada @UJAFederation @CIJAinfo @CanadianFSWC @fordnation @HatzolohToronto

🎙️ Don't miss President @TPACampbell applauding our members for their impressive decision-making during a unique situation on Queen Street West. Hear his comments on @am640 with @gregbradyx and an important reminder: fake firearms can quickly create real danger and lead to police intervention. They don’t belong in public!

🎥 Last week, President @TPACampbell appeared before the Senate Standing Committee to speak on the realities of crime in Toronto and why we support the passage of the Bail and Sentencing Reform Act (Bill C-14). Watch as he addresses problematic information gaps for offenders released on bail, how the existing system for sureties fails, and what needs to change for public safety.

Today, at the 27th Annual Ontario Police Memorial Foundation's Ceremony of Remembrance, we stood alongside our policing partners to pay tribute to the brave men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty. Every badge number represents an officer who embodied an unwavering commitment to safety. Every name represents a person who brought courage and dedication to their service. Our thoughts are with their families, friends, and colleagues as we honour the legacy they leave behind. We will remember them always. #HeroesInLife

It was an honour to represent over 8,800 members at the Senate Committee in Ottawa to advocate for stronger bail and sentencing reform. Every opportunity to share real experiences with political leaders helps us reinforce why Bill C-14 is critical to strengthening public safety.

Thank you, Premier @fordnation, for drawing further attention to the legislation Canadians need. We strongly support the swift passage of Bill C-14. That is why earlier today, President @TPACampbell appeared before the Senate Committee to reinforce our position on bail and sentencing reform and call for stronger measures. It is time to put public safety first. Our communities deserve nothing less.
Doug Ford@fordnation

Our plan to fix Canada’s broken bail system is helping keep more criminals behind bars, but Ontario can’t do it alone. The federal government needs to pass its bail reform legislation now, so we can protect communities and keep people safe. theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

With our letter to Prime Minister @MarkJCarney and Premier @fordnation in February, to our meetings this week in Ottawa, the TPA has long called on all levels of government to recognize the unique pressures our members face. Thank you to Minister @gary_srp for hearing us and investing directly in Toronto and in the safety and security of the City as we host the FIFA World Cup. But FIFA is one event in a city that faces these pressures year-round. It is our hope today’s funding announcement will be followed by others from both the federal and provincial governments.

The Toronto Police Association fundamentally opposes the Solicitor General’s plan for the OPP to take over some policing in Toronto. This includes traffic safety on our major arterial routes and Mounted and Marine functions at Ontario Place and along its waterfront.   We believe this is a gross overreach which will develop a fragmented system, hurting both the city and our members.   Our official position and specific requests are outlined in the attached correspondence.
