Thank you to MP @KerryDiotte for taking the lead on desperately needed changes to Canada’s parole system. We have supported families of murdered police officers who are being revictimized by the existing process, just like the Ilesics. We look forward to the continued collaboration and we encourage all parties to send this bill to committee so work can continue.

The TPA has been very busy this year, advocating all levels of government and police leadership on issues that matter the most to our members and the communities they serve. We want to thank those who took the time to meet with us, including Public Safety Minister @gary_srp, Minister of Justice @SeanFraserMP, Secretary of State @rubysahotalib, Parliamentary Secretary @PatriciaLattan3, MPs @JeanYip3, @j_maloney, @LarryBrockMP, and @KerryDiotte as well as our local partners Premier @fordnation, Minister @TeamKerzner, Minister @douglasdowney, @MayorOliviaChow, Chair @shelleycarroll, and Councillor @BradMBradford. We will keep working with our association partners, such as the CPA, CUPE @Local416, @TPFFA, on issues that affect all first responders, not just in Toronto but nationwide. Political advocacy and government relations will remain strategic priorities for the TPA, and we look forward to working more with this group in 2026.
