Having a nostalgic drive around Melbourne yesterday what hit me was the banality of those wanting to return Australia to an era that’s long gone. It’s a banal story they spin. I enjoyed the trip down memory lane, looking at the architectural remains of what were once called the local “wog shop” (corner store) which intriguingly, didn’t actually sell “wogs”. After looking at a few redevelopment opportunities we went into Melbourne for dinner and a show. That’s when reality really hit … Melbourne like the rest of Australia is a multicultural place … it’s not an Anglo enclave … groups of young people hanging around with each other were very multicultural … English was one of a number of languages spoken … despite what the Ginger Whinger says, the word has moved on, even if her tiny mind is incapable of understanding that reality.
