HALO will be at the #LabourConference on Sunday, hosting a reception with @MAGsaveslives and @LabourFPG on the role the UK and its partners can play in helping to address the global rise in conflict. 🪖 We face the highest number of active conflicts since #WWII. 🌍 2 billion people (1/4 of the world’s population) live in conflict-affected areas - increasingly in urban areas. 💥 There are over 120 armed conflicts globally, involving over 60 states and 120 non-state groups. #Landmine use is rising for the first time in decades. 🆘 Forced displacement is at a post-war high of 110 million people. Nearly 300 million people will require humanitarian aid & protection in 2025. ⚠️ Increased use of improvised explosive devices is just one example of how the threat of explosive ordnance has evolved over the last decade. 📈 The global cost of violence in 2024 was $20 trillion – equivalent to the GDP of China being lost every year.
