I stopped reading "little kid" books to my 7, 4 and 3 year old and started reading the classics, and now my children can't stop singing "Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!" You love to see it!

@RobertBurns82 Mayor, I think another big issue is the balance of building more homes and keeping farmland/rural communities authentic so that young families can afford 3-10 acres. Even in rural towns in NC it is very expensive. Thank you!

Simple idea for NC: Protect our land. Protect our farmland from being bought by Chinese corporations. Protect our Western NC land from being bought by big corporations trying to mine Lithium after Helene. Protect your land from being taxed, specifically property owned by citizens 65 & older, veterans, and those who have paid off their homes. Let’s get it done.

I saw this post from Colin and have been pondering on it for the past hour. Stable Institutions such as education, housing and retirement I feel are going to pivot over the next years as people have less kids and also there is a nihilism going about the the next generation. Why is it that a mortgage company (which was a sign of the American dream) shifting their efforts to yuppie athleisure wear? This is because the new American dream for Millennials and Zoomers is work-life balance (which is good) and products that relate to that life style, note it is not suites or fancy dresses, but athleisure. Whether it is because they feel that told American Dream is dead, there is a shift that institutions are starting to recognize and are trying to be first to market on it.

One of the nation's largest mortgage lenders has launched an athleisure clothing line. Rate (formerly Guaranteed Rate) has rolled out RateFit, "a wellness-driven lifestyle brand." They were the 7th largest mortgage lender in the country last year. (I'm as baffled as you are).

Regenerative agriculture is infrastructure for the future. Healthy soil grows better food, holds more water, and stays productive for your children's children.

@CatholicRob so true. I think when Leo wants to "move right" he appoints women and non-Europeans/Americans to help the left stomach the change. I pray she does great work and helps clear confusion.

Do I think it's a "good" thing that a lay woman was just made a prefect of a dicastery? No. Do I think the wolves in the Church wanted an American millennial from EWTN to be in charge of Vatican communications? Absolutely not, and for that, I'm happy.

@mortgagetruth Younger Millennials and Gen-Zers are not buying houses and thus don't need mortgages, but they do buy athleisure. So its an easy switch to a more stable market, especially since you typically only have 1 mortgage but can have a ton of outfits.

@an_appeal_toGod I hate how rural areas are so naturally beautiful and serene and then an ugly, gray box is just in the middle of the field...

Every time I drive past this data center construction I'm appalled. All that comes to mind is "The Scouring of the Shire" in the Lord of the rings. Last pic is the farm next to the site.

Pope Leo XIV has appointed @EWTN's head of news, Maria Montserrat Alvarado, as prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, replacing Paolo Ruffini who has served as prefect since 2018. Alvarado will become the first laywoman to head a dicastery of the Roman Curia. She will take up her new position on November 1.
