The US "deal" with Iran is a total capitulation. It pumps the Iranian regime full of cash for its ballistic missiles and proxy armies, and leaves the nuclear weapons program still fissile. On @NewsNation:

The one question that needs to be answered by Trump: Will he invite the parents of the massacred protestors or the family of those being executed due to his call to “take over your institutions” to the signing ceremony of the MOU? Trump callously used the Iranian people. This has been the betrayal of the century! There will be plenty more bullets and rope that the IRGC can use with the massive amount of cash they will inevitably receive for signing this feeble MOU. Shame on President Trump. I believe the biggest disgrace of the war was how Trump used the people of Iran. He gave them hope then snatched it away.

Shame on President Trump, AKA Trump the Coward. To callously and with wanton aforethought use the blood and torture of the Iranian people as mere pawns to achieve his feeble “deal”, is the single biggest act of moral bastardry this century. And if any American justifies this as “we are America first and we do what’s in our best interest” then they are equally a moral bankrupt.

The false promise of “Help is on the way” caused an unprecedented, massive turnout on the streets of Iran. But it also triggered the regime's ultimate panic. Fearing imminent intervention, the Islamic Republic rushed to commit the most horrific massacre in our history, slaughtering over 50,000 of our best youth in under 12 hours. Then, during the war, he told the people that the streets were not safe: “Stay home, we will tell you when to rise up again.” Later, as the mass executions of those innocent detainees began, he claimed the regime had promised him they wouldn't execute anyone. Meanwhile, they executed more than 100 people, and those are just the ones we know about! And now? He says “regime change was never the goal.” I don't care if politicians and pundits call this 10D chess or psychological warfare or part of the so-called game. Using the blood, hope, and lives of innocent people as a geopolitical bargaining chip is a historic moral failure. And it will forever define how the world remembers America’s role in our deepest tragedy.

YOU REVIVE IT, YOU OWN IT! That has to be a the new foreign policy doctrine. Trump has to take responsibility for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s future missile, nuclear, terror and doomsday cult outcomes. We had a unique opportunity to establish a modern, liberal, secular democracy, supported by the people of Iran. Instead, Trump has gone to extraordinary lengths to keep the brutal terrorist IRGC in power.

Why is President Trump so hell-bent on saving the Islamic regime after we have a historic chance to take them down along with their terror proxies Hamas and Hezbollah? I just don’t get it… What am I missing?

I love your work, Mark and the most reliable analysis always comes from @FDD. However, this is a unique situation of a one sided equation. There cannot be a good “deal”. Any “deal”, by definition eventually gives the Regime and IRCG money/assests/sanctions relief/unfreezing of funds to entrench their power. And that’s the worst outcome for the people of Iran. So any “deal” will necessarily be a disaster of an outcome. Bad! Firstly, we should not be calling it a “deal”. A deal implies a positive outcome which is good thing. We should call it a negotiated ransom settlement. On February 28, in his address at the commencement of Epic Fury, Trump gave hope to the Iranian people that Regime forces had two choices: lay down your arms or face certain death. Trump rightly identified that this would be the only opportunity for the Iranian people to take back their country for a generation. And now Trump will be entrenching the IRGC for a generation to come. A “deal” eventually will have to involves economic incentives/sanctions relief. Now Trump’s deal will take away that opportunity for liberation for a generation or more. In summary, any “deal” will necessarily be a strategic disaster but also the most egregious act of moral bastardry this century.

As we await more on the Iran front: Put aside your TDS. Put aside your TMS — Trump Messiah Syndrome. Be serious. Evaluate. Verify. Treat every claim with skepticism. Criticize where warranted. Acknowledge where positive. And try not to use Iran as just another battlefield in your tribal political war. I know I’m recommending the impossible for too many of you.

It’s such a shame that Trump has now sided with the IRGC and the Regime and has entrenched their power. Now the Iranian people will not be able to be liberated. The betrayal by Trump is the biggest act of moral bastardry in the 21st Century. I hope Israel takes a moral and strategic stand and helps liberate the people of Iran before the IRGC benefits from the billions in sanctions relief.

@mdubowitz Instead of calling it a “deal” people should call it what it is: payment of ransom. Then it doesn’t sound like something to be sort after, but instead recognised for what it really is.

Vivid, I’m extremely disappointed in you. I regularly share your posts, but I am flabbergasted by your support of Trump at this point. How pathetic to abandon your moral compass. Trump has now entrenched the Regime in a way they could never have achieved themselves. And the betrayal of the Iranian people is the biggest act of moral bankruptcy this century. All for a faux “deal” that is the worst outcome of all.

I’ll never trash President Trump. I don't agree with his decision to make a deal with a terrorist Islamic regime, but I will forever be grateful to him for everything he has done for us. I pray he will change his mind and save the Iranian people from this savage Islamic regime.

This is not a deal, it is an agreement to pay ransom money. A much, much, much better deal could have been achieved by completely destroying the Regime and letting the Iranian people liberate themselves. Why we let these countries influence our decisions I’ll never know.  Do they align with our interests?
