@SamaHoole Coincidentally, I just realized I’m a secondhand vegetarian!
English

I've been experimenting with a traditional recipe for improving the flavour and nutrition of vegetables and I think I've cracked it.⠀
⠀
You feed them to a cow.⠀
⠀
The cow, through the patient application of four stomachs and roughly ten thousand years of evolutionary refinement, takes the carrots, the cabbage, the kale stalks, the broccoli stems nobody wanted, the oxalates that were coming for your kidneys, and the fibrous tonnage your gut was never designed to process, and quietly sorts the lot out in a field.⠀
⠀
Several months of this and the cow hands back a version of those vegetables that is bioavailable, nutrient-dense, and, crucially, delicious.⠀
⠀
The cabbage becomes ribeye. The carrots become brisket. The kale becomes the fat around a kidney that tastes like the field it came from.⠀
⠀
No blender. No soaking. No activated anything. No twenty-ingredient dressing to make it palatable. Just a ruminant doing the job it was built for.⠀
⠀
I've started calling it fermentation. The cow has not been informed.

I actually do have a backup car just as a backup. It’s a cheap old beat up car.
But it’s great if the family car breaks down, and it gives me time to fix it instead of bringing it to a mechanic.
That being said, it’s very common for Americans to have extra vehicles, but not specifically a car just for “backup”.
English

@a_burly_gnoll @yamanakanobody I do. A cheap $2000, 20-year-old beater. That way I can still have transportation while I fix whatever is wrong with our main vehicle.
English

@yamanakanobody Well usually if they have multiple cars and not a family it's because they have a car and a truck or they have a toy car (like a classic or sports car) and a everyday car. I don't know anyone that just has a backup car.

@FroggyLegs96697 @grok @JonMack_SLAY @DefiantLs Grok was here to prove your point! And you didn’t even have to pay for the subscription to get it to do so! lol

@dirtcheapbanks My bank completely did away with cookies.
Confession time: it was the entire reason they were my bank
English

I have built a spreadsheet. It has 847 rows. Each row is a community bank in the United States with a market cap below $200 million, a price-to-tangible-book ratio under 0.85, a non-performing loan ratio below 0.4%, and a CEO who has been in the role for at least twelve years. I update it every Sunday from 6 AM to 11 AM while my family attends church without me. I have visited the headquarters of nineteen of these banks in person. I have eaten a complimentary lobby cookie at each one. The cookies are how you can tell. A bank with a good cookie is a bank that respects its depositors. A bank with a stale cookie is a bank that will be acquired within 36 months at a 40% premium. I am never wrong about the cookies. The cookies have never lied to me. The cookies are the only thing left that tells the truth.

@seakingvalhalla @HumansNoContext And your earlier self would then be very preoccupied with eating apples to stay healthy. . .
English

@HumansNoContext Apple, considering $1K investment would have made me a millionaire (not counting dividends, cashing out etc)

@ghobubo @mariana057 Bleah. I wouldn’t recommend that either!
English

@OriginContents @mariana057 I threw up after eating chocolate mousse made with a raw egg. Do not recommend.

@waltersobrero @qing_yin19640 Alternatively, it gives you time to react and actually grab a weapon versus them being able to see/stop you as your in plain sight.
English

@OriginContents @qing_yin19640 You can't see who is opening the door. If it's an intruder you can't react

Marc Andreessen: "There's 2 reasons they're incurious about it... Elon Musk also generates emotion in people."
For a hundred years, management books taught us the exact same system for running a company: put someone at the top to oversee the machine, wait for reports, and enforce the rules.
"And then there's Elon who just doesn't do any of that and has a completely different playbook."
The Elon Playbook in a nutshell:
1- It’s only engineers.
"People who matter in your company are the engineers, the people who understand the technical content of what you're doing."
2- Ruthlessly violate the chain of command.
"You never ever talk to mid-level management. If they need it for whatever vacation policy, it's fine. But if you are the CEO to get the truth, you only talk to the line engineer."
3- Parachute into the bottleneck.
"Your job as the CEO is every week to fix whatever is the most important bottleneck to the company's progress. You parachute in, find the engineers that are working on that problem, and you basically stay up with them all night until they fix the problem."
4- Engineering reviews, NOT product reviews.
"You get all the engineers together and you have them each present what they're doing for 5 minutes. The result of that is you know every single engineer in the company, you know exactly what they're working on."
5- Act instantly on talent.
"If somebody's not good you fire them on the spot. If somebody's great you go all out to get them."
Traditional CEOs rely on reports and middle management. Elon ignores the rules to get straight to the truth.

@ReadvsWrite @BudLightSadness It maybe more accurate to read this as the ability to do violence.
The number of Americans that own gun/shoot, media glorification of violence: our movies, prepper community, football, etc.
English

@BudLightSadness I don’t understand this tweet. How is violence a hobby here?
